Pinot gris (French) is a white wine grape variety. The strange name of the Wasseros vineyard plot refers to spring areas that emerge from the ground in many places. The 28.5 ha estate of Chateau Rauzan-Gassies stretches 28 km northwest of Bordeaux across the communes of Margaux and Cantenac. With a base largely of gravel the vineyard is unsurprisingly dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (71%) with the balance comprising Merlot (25%) Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (1%). Grapes are hand-harvested, and vinified parcel by parcel.
