Description of the product
Sangiovese is a grape type and its name derives from the Latin sanguis Jovis, "the blood of Jupiter, in italian Giove. Sangiovese was already well known by the 16th century. Sangiovese di Romagna is a controlled designation of origin whose wine can only be produced in the provinces of Forlì, Cesena, Ravenna, Rimini and in seven municipalities in the province of Bologna. According to legend, the name Sangiovese comes from Monte Giove, near Sant'Arcangelo di Romagna, where monks during the Middle Ages produced a red wine that fascinated Pope Leo XII. Sangiovese di Romagna is produced from Sangiovese grapes vinified alone or together with small quantities (maximum 15%) of grapes of other red varieties from the area
