Description of the product
The Forster Schnepfenflug vineyard comprises not only Forst but also Deidesheim, Friedelsheim and Wachenheim sites. Sandy loam and clayey sand optimise the ripening conditions through a sufficient water supply. The Huxelrebe is a white wine variety that produces berries that are sensitive to both weather and disease. It was crossed in 1927 at the Landesanstalt für Rebenzüchtung in Alzey by Georg Scheu from Elbling and Coutillier Musqué. The new variety was named after Fritz Huxel, who was the first to cultivate it extensively in Westhofen (Rheinhessen) in the 1950s. Huxel grapes can produce high-quality sweet and dessert wines.
