Wine 1954
Our bottles of 1954 mostly came from a private cellar in Milan, whose owner was a true wine lover and a careful collector who collected 1500 bottles of prestigious wines from Piedmont and from the French Burgundy in the late 40s and mid 70s. When we are asked to evaluate a collection of vintage wines, ... we always find ourselves in underground cellars, which are humid and full of dust. Theoretically this environment is ideal for the storage of wine bottles and for us it’s the first step to ensure the authenticity of the bottles, like those of 1954. The bottles which are intact and with a good level and color of the wine are those we bring in our own cellar, to be photographed and then put up for selling.

Gattinara is a red wine with Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita status produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown in vineyards in the hills in the north of the province of Vercelli, northwest of Novara, and westward toward the Alps with the town of Gattinara near its center. It is one of a few regions in Italy that have been awarded DOCG status and shares that distinction in Piedmont with the Barolo and Barbaresco regions.
