Recognition of DOCG status came in 1980. To the east of Hallgarten is the Jungfer vineyard. Today, its core in the VdP is a large location (Grand Cru). The name probably comes from the Cistercian monks of the neighboring Eberbach monastery, who dedicated this vineyard to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The respect Fieuzal has for its soil goes back over 400 years, when it was farmed by a handful of winegrowers. The 28.5 ha estate of Chateau Rauzan-Gassies stretches 28 km northwest of Bordeaux across the communes of Margaux and Cantenac. Rauzan Gassies was founded in 1661 and separated as a small part from its namesake Rausan Segla just over a century later as a result of the French Revolution. Rauzan Gassies is situated on the 20 metre thick gravel bed near the Gironde, close to Château Margeaux and other 2eme and 3eme grands crus classés. The unique soil composition of these vineyards is what makes the Margaux appellation so rich and produces unique wines vintage after vintage.

Châteaux Malescot St Exupery is a 3ème Cru Classé, located in the appellation of Margaux.
