Recognition of DOCG status came in 1980. The strange name of the Wasseros vineyard plot refers to spring areas that emerge from the ground in many places. Such places were referred to as water horses in old cadastral locations as early as 1610 and gave this area in Kiedrich its name. Terre del Barolo is the largest cooperative and the most well know top quality wines producer in Piedmont. The Terre del Barolo winery was founded on 8 December 1958 by 22 growers from various villages in the neighbourhood of Alba. Les Hervelets is one of the fine 1er Cru locations in Fixin. The Fixin appellation is located in the very north of Burgundy and is part of the Côte de Nuits. The center is the village of the same name, Fixin. The majority of the 300 hectares of vineyards fall under the simpler quality designation Côte de Nuits-Villages, only 100 belong to the Fixin appellation and 22 hectares are 1er Cru locations. The vineyards in the south of the area border the famous Gevrey-Chambertin wine region. The vineyards are mostly oriented in a south-easterly direction. They consist of limestone formations with the beautiful names Lias, Dogger and Malm (black, brown and white Jura). The escarpment to the Saône plain offers the best terroir. The predominant grape variety is Pinot Noir for fine, dry red wines.

The Volnay appellation, named after the place of the same name, with 226 hectares of vineyards is located in the Côte de Beaune area on the Burgundian Côte d'Or between the municipalities of Pommard and Meursault. Red wines are produced almost exclusively from Pinot Noir with proportions of Pinot Gris and Pinot Liébault, which are among the best in Burgundy. The Cistercians already owned vineyards here in the 14th century and were very popular with the Dukes of Burgundy, who had a castle here at the time. Claude Arnoux (1695-1770) begins his famous book on Burgundy wines with a Latin hymn of praise for the wines of Volnay, in which he describes them as "partridge coloured" and the best wines of the Côte de Beaune. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the wine from this commune was one of the favorites of the Bourbons and the aristocracy as a whole.

The classical dry red wine comes from the appellation Graves, Pessac Leognan in Médoc. Like all Bordeaux properties, the estate was traded multiple times over the centuries. In time, the vineyard passed to the Le Bailly family and Nicolas de Leuvarde in 1630. In 1872, Haut Bailly was purchased by Alcide Bellot des Minières. The 33 hectare vineyards of Chateau Haut Bailly is a complex terroir of sand and gravel over limestone soils. Currently, 30 hectares are planted to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. 4 hectares of Haut Bailly are planted with vines more than 100 years of age. These are some of the oldest vines in Pessac Leognan.
