Wine 1978
An extravagant 1978 for Burgundy wines, which, thanks to expectations of a wonderful wine, saw prices rise as much as 100 percent higher in a very short time than the previous year. Some wine merchants tried to curb this rise, fearful that they would not be able to sell their quantities, at least not at those prices, but soon they had to let the market do its thing and accept the novelty. And at considerable profit! ... In the end, holding a bottle of old, certainly rare and preferably fine wine from 1978 in one's hand is equivalent to a deep and conscious pleasure.
A real old and drinkable wine from 1978. Every wine lover is fascinated by a perfectly aged and rare red wine with a world-famous origin.

Bacchus from the Freinsheimer Rosenbühl in the Palatinate. The white wine grape variety Bacchus is a cross between Silvaner, Riesling and Müller-Thurgau. In 1933, Peter Morio and Bernhard Husfeld bred the grape variety at the Geilweilerhof Institute for Vine Breeding. Most of the light yellow wines are light to medium-bodied. Mature Bacchus wines can also be rich in extracts, fruity and have a bouquet (sometimes reminiscent of Scheurebe). Growths with a high must weight and sufficient acidity are suitable for Auslese and can have a subtle nutmeg note (sometimes reminiscent of caraway).

The Monferrato zone lays claim to being Barbera's birthplace, and records of it growing there as far back as the 13th century. But the hills around Alba and Monforte d'Alba have proved they are capable of growing some particularly fine Barbera, as are parts of the Asti province. Century-old vines still exist in many regional vineyards and allow for the production of long-aging, robust red wines with intense fruit and enhanced tannic content.

It is traditionally the most emblematic grape of Tuscany: the majority of the most traditional and prestigious wines of this region are produced from this variety. In addition to Sangiovese, there are other grape varieties such as Canaiolo, which is used to lend softness to Chianti and was more widely cultivated than Sangiovese itself in the 18th century. The Forster Schnepfenflug vineyard comprises not only Forst but also Deidesheim, Friedelsheim and Wachenheim sites. Sandy loam and clayey sand optimise the ripening conditions through a sufficient water supply. The Huxelrebe is a white wine variety that produces berries that are sensitive to both weather and disease. It was crossed in 1927 at the Landesanstalt für Rebenzüchtung in Alzey by Georg Scheu from Elbling and Coutillier Musqué. The new variety was named after Fritz Huxel, who was the first to cultivate it extensively in Westhofen (Rheinhessen) in the 1950s. Huxel grapes can produce high-quality sweet and dessert wines.

Chateau Tour Haut Vignoble was founded in 1861. The peculiarity of the vineyard, having been acquired over generations, is that it is divided into more than twenty plots scattered throughout the city of Saint-Estèphe making it highly representative of the appellation.
Three quarters of the plots are located in deep gravel areas and deserve the term "Upper Vineyard". The remaining quarter brings a happy complementarity with its clay-limestone soils.
The grape varieties planted are typical of the Medoc and includes Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) which forms the backbone of wine. Merlot (40%) which ripens earlier and is more fruity it brings flexibility and roundness to the wine. Petit Verdot (5%) excels on particularly well draining soils and promotes aroma and flavour complexity of wines.

Sfursat, or Sforzato, is obtained from hand-made selection of the best bunches of Nebbiolo-Chiavennasca grapes, which are dried on wooden racks in a well ventilated and dry room, a "fruttaio", until late January. This treatment leads to a high concentration of natural sugars and special aromas. The dehydration of the grape varies between 35-40%, the berries are dry and their concentrated juice has developed specific and very intense aromatic substances. The vinification process consists of soft pressing of the grapes and subsequent fermentation. A 2 to 3 year ageing in oak casks and a final 6 to 12 month bottle refinement give this red wine its uniqueness.

Château le Bon Pateur is located in Maillet, on the excellent terriors of the Pomperol appellation. The property Le Bon Pasteur originally consisted of vineyards in the three communes of Pomerol, Saint-Émilion and Néac, the last one in the appellation Lalande-de-Pomerol. Originally all three wines were called Le Bon Pasteur, with the respective appellation indicated. From 1978, the wine from Saint-Émilion has been called Château Rolland-Maillet and that from Lalande-de-Pomerol called Château Bertineau Saint-Vincent. They are all produced at Le Bon Pasteur. The history of Chateau Le Bon Pasteur dates back all the way to 1920 when it was purchased by Joseph and Hermine Dupuy. The grandson of the original owner, Michel Rolland, the famous Bordeaux wine consultant, and his wife Dany, also an oenologist, created a model vineyard and produce outstanding wines. In May, 2013, Le Bon Pasteur was sold to Sutong Pan, the first Asian investor to buy a truly legendary Pomerol estate. Dany and Michel Rolland continue to manage the estate and make the wine.

The classical dry red wine comes from the Barolo DOC in Northern Italy, the most important wine region of Piedmont. Prior to the mid-19th century, Barolo was a sweet wine. The fact that the Nebbiolo grape ripens late in October meant that temperatures would be steadily dropping by harvest. By November and December, temperatures in the Piedmont region would be cold enough to halt fermentation, leaving a significant amount of residual sugar left in the wine. In the mid-19th century the French enologist Louis Oudart improve the winemaking techniques of the local producers. Using techniques focusing on improving the hygiene of the cellar, Oudart was able to ferment the Nebbiolo must completely dry, making the first modern Barolo. This new, dry red wine soon became a favorite among the nobility of Turin and the ruling House of Savoy, giving rise to the popular description of Barolo as the wine of kings, the king of wines.
