The wine-growing region covers around two-thirds of the Gironde department (with the exception of the southernmost area and the coastal strip, where no vines are grown), spanning 105 by 130 kilometres and covering a total vineyard area of 113,000 hectares. The Produttori del Barbaresco are an association of small wineries, some of which have tiny plots in prime locations. Amarone della Valpolicella is an intensely flavored dry red wine made from the Veneto and Lombardia regions of north Italy. Amarone wines are made from carefully selected bunches of the best grapes.
