Nebbiolo is a red Italian wine grape variety predominantly associated with the Piedmont region where it makes the wines of Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Gattinara. In the town of Lagrasse, Château Pech-Latt is located in the heart of the Corbières appellation in Languedoc-Roussillon. The story begins in 1807, in Paris, when the Marquis of Barolo Carlo Tancredi Falletti married Juliette Colbert de Maulévrier, a French noblewoman and the great granddaughter of the Minister of Finance Colbert by Luigi XIV . Juliette saw the great potential of the wine made in Barolo that, after a complete fermentation and a long aging in wood, would have been able to unveil all the qualities typical of the soil and of the grape variety: Nebbiolo. The Listrac-Médoc appellation is situated in the north-west of the Gironde County. This area, baptised The Roof of the Médoc, reaches a height of 43 metres above sea level.
Château Clarke dates back to the 12th century, when Cistercian monks at the Vertheuil Abbey in Listrac planted the first grapevines. In the year 1771 the Irish knight Tobie Clarke bought the vineyards with 230 hectares. Then, after a series of inheritances and sales, the property was bought in 1973 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild and has now 53 hectares of vineyards.
The grapevines are planted on clay-limestone hilltops that encourage the expression of the Merlot grape that largely dominates the vine mix (a rare feature in the Médoc district).

Rare bottle from the Geisenheim Teaching and Research Centre in the Rheingau. Today, the calcareous loess soil and loess loam of this vineyard produces full-bodied wines with an elegant acidity. The classical dry red wine comes from the Barolo DOC in Northern Italy, the most important wine region of Piedmont. Prior to the mid-19th century, Barolo was a sweet wine. The fact that the Nebbiolo grape ripens late in October meant that temperatures would be steadily dropping by harvest. By November and December, temperatures in the Piedmont region would be cold enough to halt fermentation, leaving a significant amount of residual sugar left in the wine. In the mid-19th century the French enologist Louis Oudart improve the winemaking techniques of the local producers. Using techniques focusing on improving the hygiene of the cellar, Oudart was able to ferment the Nebbiolo must completely dry, making the first modern Barolo. This new, dry red wine soon became a favorite among the nobility of Turin and the ruling House of Savoy, giving rise to the popular description of Barolo as the wine of kings, the king of wines.

The name of the property, Marquis d’Alesme comes from one of the early aristocratic families from the Bordeaux wine region. The property was acquired in 1809 by the business man Jean Bekker Terrlink, who attached his name to that of the estate. He was also the owner of Chateau Lascombes. Like many Bordeaux chateaux, Marquis d’Alesme changed hands during the French revolution. A succession of owners followed until 1938 when the property was sold to the Zuger family, the owners of another Bordeaux wine property, Chateau Malescot-Saint-Exupéry. In 2006, the Perrodo family, also owner of Chateau Labegorce, bought the estate. The vineyard area consists of 16 hectares (40 acres) of vines, currently planted with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc  and 10% Petit Verdot.

Hermitage is one of the famous Grand Cru on the Côte du Rhône. The very elegant Syrah offers dark berry, spicy aromas with strong tannins and is very long-lasting.

The Hermitage Hill was formed in the Ice Age when the Rhône broke through this eastern extension of the Massif Central following a rapid fall in sea level. Despite its small size, the Hermitage is geologically very diverse. In the highest, western part, the soil consists of granite, which weathers into fine clay. The eastern, larger part of the slope, on the other hand, is formed in the middle by rubble made of sand and limestone that the Rhône had transported from the Alps. At the foot of the slope there are younger sediments from the Würme Ice Age. The highest points are again covered with loess. To protect the thin layers of soil from slipping, walls made of limestone were built.
