Franschhoek is located in the South African province of Western Cape. The name of the village means "French Angle" and refers to its foundation in 1688, when several hundred emigrated Huguenots from France settled in the small village. Some of them were winegrowers who quickly recognised the potential of the terroir and used it for winegrowing. In 1694, the French Huguenot Pierre Jourdan was given a farm, which he then christened Cabriere, named after his hometown in the south of France. In 1982, the estate was bought by Achim von Arnim.

The Pfannenstielhof looks back on a long and eventful history. First mentioned in a document in 1561, the farm has been owned by the Pfeifer family for seven generations since 1816 and is therefore considered a hereditary farm. In the St. Magdalener Classico, the Vernatsch grapes grow as a mixed set with about 5% Lagrein on moraine debris soils of quartz porphyry and dolomite material and are fermented in stainless steel tanks. The classical dry red wine comes from the appellation Saint-Estephe in Médoc. Saint-Estèphe is best known as the northernmost, and one of the four major wine growing appellations of the Médoc. Third Grand Cru Classé in 1855, Château Boyd-Cantenac was founded in 1754  by Jacques Boyd. After few years of the Classification the estate was divided into Boyd-Cantenac and Cantenac-Brown. Its 17 hectares of vineyards are located west of the village of Cantenac in the Margaux appellation. The soil is rocky-gravely and the vines are more than thirty five years old on average and are composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot.

Brunello di Montalcino is a DOCG for dry red wine in the Italian region of Tuscany. The zone covers the slopes around the picturesque hilltop town of Montalcino - 40 kilometers south of Siena in the province of the same name. The wine is made 100 percent from the Sangiovese variety Brunello. An important aspect of quality lies in the very special climate, as it is warmer and drier than in the nearby Chianti areas and the nights are cooler. Hermitage is one of the famous Grand Cru on the Côte du Rhône and the Hermitage Gambert de Loche the best wine of cave de tain. The very elegant Syrah offers dark berry, spicy aromas with strong tannins and is very long-lasting.

The Hermitage Hill was formed in the Ice Age when the Rhône broke through this eastern extension of the Massif Central following a rapid fall in sea level. Despite its small size, the Hermitage is geologically very diverse. In the highest, western part, the soil consists of granite, which weathers into fine clay. The eastern, larger part of the slope, on the other hand, is formed in the middle by rubble made of sand and limestone that the Rhône had transported from the Alps. At the foot of the slope there are younger sediments from the Würme Ice Age. The highest points are again covered with loess.
