Recognition of DOCG status came in 1980. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano production zone comprises the land belonging to the municipal area of Montepulciano in the province of Siena, a particularly favourable location on the hilly ridge between Val di Chiana and Val d’Orcia. The land in this production zone is at altitudes of between 250 and 580 metres a.s.l. and the quality of the wines produced here is largely influenced by its climactic and geological features. The grapes are from 70% of Prugnolo Gentile, a type of Sangiovese, and the rest is Canaiolo, Cilie­giolo, Mam­molo, other locally and traditional grapes in Siena.

The classical dry red wine comes from the appellation Graves. Graves (from French: gravelly land) is an important subregion of the Bordeaux wine region. Graves is situated on the left bank of the Garonne river, in the upstream part of the region, southeast of the city Bordeaux. The name Graves derives from ist intensely gravelly soil. The soil is the result of glaciers from the Ice Age, which also left white quartz deposits that can still be found in the soil of some of the top winemaking estates. Typical for the left bank wines (Médoc) is the blend of grapes with Cabernet Sauvignon as the predominant grape. The others are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

German most famous and oldest viticulture is the „Steilhange“, steep slopes along the Mosella river. No wonder that Weingut Milz can praise such a long winemaking tradition and history. Since 1520, the Milz family has been known as great winemakers in Trittenheim, a wine village in the well-known Moselschleife. Parts of the original 1680 wine cellar are today still visible. Milz’s wines are quite classic Riesling from the Mosel, since they present the ideal alcohol level, delicatesugar residue and an extremely long finish. In 1900, these wines used to be the most expensive in any European restaurant’s menu, even more high-priced than the best Burgundies and Bordeaux wines.

The Leiterchen is a single part of the Trittenheimer Apotheke vineyard is located in front of Trittenheim on the right bank of the Mosella. This region is famous for his 40%-60% incline. Soil is rocky and made up of green-blue Devon – altered slate that during the day stores the sun heat on the west-southern slopes and at night gives it back to the vine. This phenomenon allows the growing Riesling to properly ripen. The vineyard is located at 150-200 metres above sea level and stretches across 72 hectares.

The entire Rhone Valley is frequently referred to as the Cotes du Rhone. The origins of the domain go back to 1719 In 1870,Comte Ernest de Lahens  presided over this domain of 345 ha and commissioned the building of château Trintaudon, capped with its distinctive tower. In 1986, the insurance company Allianz bought the domain, now one of the largest vineyards in the Medoc with 190 ha

 In 1844 Luciano Francisco Ramòn de Murrieta, returned to his home near Logrono in Rioja from England, where he  developed an appreciation for wine, recognized that there was nothing wrong with the grapes growing in Rioja's vineyards. The only problem was that the wine was not being produced correctly. Determined to obtain sufficient knowledge on winemaking to make a good modern wine, he went to Bordeaux, where he studied both grape growing and winemaking techniques. Four years later, he began producing wine in Rioja using local grapes, mostly Garnacha and Tempranillo, the 1852 vintage being the first of what today is considered traditional Rioja, a red aged in oak casks, marked by the taste of both fruit and wood, and possessing the potential for extended cellaring.

The Listrac-Médoc appellation is situated in the north-west of the Gironde County. This area, baptised The Roof of the Médoc, reaches a height of 43 metres above sea level.
Château Clarke dates back to the 12th century, when Cistercian monks at the Vertheuil Abbey in Listrac planted the first grapevines. In the year 1771 the Irish knight Tobie Clarke bought the vineyards with 230 hectares. Then, after a series of inheritances and sales, the property was bought in 1973 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild and has now 53 hectares of vineyards.
The grapevines are planted on clay-limestone hilltops that encourage the expression of the Merlot grape that largely dominates the vine mix (a rare feature in the Médoc district).

Château Chasse-Spleen is located in Moulis-en-Médoc, one of six appellations communales of Bordeaux. The estate's viticultural history is documented back to 1560. Château Chasse-Spleen was selected as one of six Crus Exceptionnels in the Cru Bourgeois classification of 1932. The vineyard has 80 hectares, planted with the grape varieties of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot.

Clos la Madeleine is in a prime location in Saint Emilion close to the 1er Cru Ausone, Belair and Canon. It has only 2.5 hectares of vineyards, 76% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc. The winery has existed since 1841 and was taken over by a group of wine enthusiasts in 1992, since then the quality of the wines has improved significantly. The vineyard areas for Merlot are the vineyard terraces and the foot of the slope (with the oldest Merlot stock) and for Cabernet Franc approximately 1 hectare of slopes.

Chateau La Serre is located just outside the village of St. Emilion with famous neighbors like Chateau Pavie Macquin, Ausone and Trottevielle. The name of the winery Chateau la Serre means “greenhouse”, and references the fact that the vineyards are on the crest of Saint-Emilion and slope to the south, giving them exposure to the sun day long. The terroir is chalk, clay and sand. The Bordeaux vineyard of Chateau La Serre consists of vines planted to 80% Merlot  and 20% Cabernet Franc. The chateau was constructed towards the end of the 17th century. Chateau La Serre was purchased in the 1950’s by the d’Arfeuille family, who continue to own the estate today.

The Winkeler Gutenberg is a hillside location facing southwest with lots of sunshine at the foot of Johannisberg Castle. The soils with loam and marl interspersed with gravel and clay provide the vines with good water, resulting in Rieslings with typical acidity and fruit play.

One of the grandest, most imposing buildings amongst the Médoc châteaux, Château Margaux in ist current form was built in the early 19th century, although viticulture had been practised on the estate for several centuries before.
