In 1844 Luciano Francisco Ramòn de Murrieta, returned to his home near Logrono in Rioja from England, where he  developed an appreciation for wine, recognized that there was nothing wrong with the grapes growing in Rioja's vineyards. The winery is located in the Graves Pessac Leognan area. Located in the western part of the commune of Saint Emilion, the Château Cheval Brun estate benefits from a sandy, clay-limestone soil and a subsoil that favours drainage. Since 1875, the Rivière family has developed their estates in the purest tradition of Bordeaux wines. Concerned about the quality of the wines produced, the vines are grown with the greatest respect of their soil and terroir. The wine is matured in a modern vat room where the traditional fermentation lasts about twenty-one days. Two to three daily pump-overs are carried out during the first few days so that the best tannins are extracted. The wines are then aged for fifteen to eighteen months in oak barrels in medieval cellars that are dug out of the stone. With Gevrey Chambertin you reach the area of ​​the great Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits. Massive, full-bodied wines that are allowed to mature for a long time. The Domaine Gerard Seguin has existed since 1850 and today covers 6 hectares of vineyards, 3.3 of which are in Gevrey Chambertin.

The Gevrey Chambertin appellation covers 405 hectares on a hillside and is one of the most important red wine-growing zones of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. The classical dry red wine comes from the appellation Saint-Estephe in Médoc. Saint-Estèphe is best known as the northernmost, and one of the four major wine growing appellations of the Médoc. The area is separated from Château Lafite-Rothschild in Pauillac to the south by the Jalle de Breuil stream and ist vineyards cover around 12 km² on the banks of the Garonne. Chateau Lafon Rochet in St. Estephe dates back to the middle of the 17th century. The estate was founded In 1650. While many Bordeaux vineyards were confiscated during the French Revolution, that did not happen to Lafon Rochet. The Left Bank estate remained the property of the same family for more than two centuries. In 1959 the Tesseron family purchased the estate.
The 45 hectare vineyards of Lafon Rochet consists in one single, large parcel with three soil types, limestone, marl and clay. Château Ferrière is the smallest of all the Crus Classés in Margaux. Hermitage is one of the famous Grand Cru on the Côte du Rhône. The very elegant Syrah offers dark berry, spicy aromas with strong tannins and is very long-lasting.

The Hermitage Hill was formed in the Ice Age when the Rhône broke through this eastern extension of the Massif Central following a rapid fall in sea level. Despite its small size, the Hermitage is geologically very diverse. In the highest, western part, the soil consists of granite, which weathers into fine clay. The eastern, larger part of the slope, on the other hand, is formed in the middle by rubble made of sand and limestone that the Rhône had transported from the Alps. At the foot of the slope there are younger sediments from the Würme Ice Age. The highest points are again covered with loess. To protect the thin layers of soil from slipping, walls made of limestone were built. The name of the extremely long-lasting red wine Hermitage goes back to a hermitage founded in 1224 (Hermitage = hermit).
