In the 1950s, the Clos des Menuts only covered one hectare of vineyards. Today it extends to over 25 hectares, not far from the historic town of Saint Emilion and located mainly in the western part of the municipality. This wine is a blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The high proportion of Merlot is a consequence of the iron-containing sand-clay soil and can be compared to Pomerol.

With Gevrey Chambertin you reach the area of the great Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits. Massive, full-bodied wines that are allowed to mature for a long time. The Domaine Gerard Seguin has existed since 1850 and today covers 6 hectares of vineyards, 3.3 of which are in Gevrey Chambertin.
The Gevrey Chambertin appellation covers 405 hectares on a hillside and is one of the most important red wine-growing zones of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. The municipal appellations are at 240 to 280 meters above sea level, the Premier Crus and Grand Crus, as is mostly the case in Burgundy, at 260 to 320 meters above sea level. Gevrey Chambertin is home to 26 Premier Crus and 9 Grand Crus. The noble grape variety Pinot Noir comes into its own here. It was Napoleon's favorite wine.

Château Ferrière is the smallest of all the Crus Classés in Margaux. Its vineyard covers only 10 hectares, but the owners (since 1988) - Mrs Claire Villars-Lurton and her family - have restored the high reputation of this 3rd Cru Classé. The mansion was embellished, the vineyard was improved, and new and very efficient equipment was bought. The vineyard is located on two beautiful knolls of gravelly and sandy soil with a limestone substrate. It is mainly composed of Cabernet-Sauvignon (80%).

Hermitage is one of the famous Grand Cru on the Côte du Rhône. The very elegant Syrah offers dark berry, spicy aromas with strong tannins and is very long-lasting.
The Hermitage Hill was formed in the Ice Age when the Rhône broke through this eastern extension of the Massif Central following a rapid fall in sea level. Despite its small size, the Hermitage is geologically very diverse. In the highest, western part, the soil consists of granite, which weathers into fine clay. The eastern, larger part of the slope, on the other hand, is formed in the middle by rubble made of sand and limestone that the Rhône had transported from the Alps. At the foot of the slope there are younger sediments from the Würme Ice Age. The highest points are again covered with loess. To protect the thin layers of soil from slipping, walls made of limestone were built. The name of the extremely long-lasting red wine Hermitage goes back to a hermitage founded in 1224 (Hermitage = hermit).
