Founded in 1973 by Mario Barbero, the Winery was a winegrowers cooperative of thirteen members from the Treiso area. Their idea was to create a winemaking that could first grow superior grapes and  a great new brand. Barolo is the most important wine in Italy. However, the growing area around the town of Barolo has a typical Piedmont characteristic. The 1,300-hectare wine region is shared by almost as many winegrowers and wineries. Wineries with 3-4 hectares of vineyards are not uncommon. Damilano is one of few traditional wine makers in Barolo. 1890 Giuseppe Borgogno, the great-grandfather of the current owners, started farming and making wine from the family-owned vineyard in Barolo. Giacomo Damilano, the founder’s son-in-law, gave the current name to the winery. Valle Talloria di Diano d'Alba is a small paradise at the foot of the Langhe hills, in Piedmont where the Giordano family has been producing wine  since 1900. In1950 Ferdinando Giordano, the founder’s grandson was the man behind the great idea to sell directly to individual clients: no middle man, just straight from the winemaker to the consumer. But at the time, Giordano was a pioneer. He began by contacting clients one at a time and offering to send his wines to their homes.  Orders soon came thick and fast and since then, the company has continued exclusively with this sales system.

The Produttori del Barbaresco are an association of small wineries, some of which have tiny plots in prime locations. After the war, in 1958, the Produttori del Barbaresco Foundation was set up, which contributed to the rebirth of the entire area, initially bringing together 19 wineries, which today number more than 50. Damilano is one of few traditional wine makers in Barolo. 1890 Giuseppe Borgogno, the great-grandfather of the current owners, started farming and making wine from the family-owned vineyard in Barolo. Giacomo Damilano, the founder’s son-in-law, gave the current name to the winery. The roots of the winery date back to 1897 when Lodovico Borgogno came into the family house and cellar to. When he died, Serio and Battista Borgogno inherited some land and a small farmhouse in Cannubi. They build their house and their winery on top of Cannubi, buying more vineyards all around for a total of 3 ha, in the heart of this top Cru area. They were able to grasp the great potential of a place that is now worldwide known and that is considered one of the best cru in Barolo.

Contratto was founded in 1867 by Giuseppe Contratto and the winery is known as the oldest producer of sparkling wine in Italy. The story begins in 1807, in Paris, when the Marquis of Barolo Carlo Tancredi Falletti married Juliette Colbert de Maulévrier, a French noblewoman and the great granddaughter of the Minister of Finance Colbert by Luigi XIV . Juliette saw the great potential of the wine made in Barolo that, after a complete fermentation and a long aging in wood, would have been able to unveil all the qualities typical of the soil and of the grape variety: Nebbiolo. Since 1970, the Castello has been under local ownership. The winery estate, which is located at the center of Barolo, presently belongs to the Abbona family, which purchased in the late 19th century.  The original and distinguished wines produced by Marchesi di Barolo are characterized by a number of highly prestigious native vines and a unique soil composition, with amalgams of clay, limestone marl, blueish marl, tuff, sandstone and sand. In order to better define and enhance their different characteristics, the most prestigious historical crus are made from a single variety, and individually aged and bottled.
