Wine grape variety Chardonnay
Chardonnay needs deep, chalky soils in prime locations. In Burgundy, France, the best vineyards are in Montrachet, Meursault and Corton-Charlemagne.
Typical aromas are melon, exotic fruits, ripe gooseberries. The aging in wooden barrels adds nuances of honey and nut.

Half bottle of Grand Cru. The classical dry red wine comes from the appellation Saint-Emilion in Bordeaux. Saint-Émilion is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) for wine in the Bordeaux wine region of France, where it is situated in the Libourne subregion on the right bank of the Dordogne. The wines of Saint-Émilion are typically blended from different grape varieties, the three main ones being Merlot (60% of the blend), Cabernet Franc (nearly 30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (around 10%). Only since 1954, there has been an official classification of Saint-Émilion wine. The classification is updated every 10 years, and consists of the following levels: Premier grand cru classé A, Premier grand cru classé B, and Grand cru classé.

Château Corbin is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Emilion. The fundations of the Château date back to the 15th century, and according to legend, Corbin was the focal point of a stronghold that belonged to the Black Prince. Built in the middle of the 19th century, Corbin was purchased in 1924 by the great-grandparents of the current owners. Since 1999, the estate is managed by Anabelle Cruse-Bardinet, a Bordeaux University oenology graduate, who represents the 4th generation of the family. A vineyard situated at the foot of Saint-Émilion, Château Juguet vineyard’s are in gravelly soils, planted mostly with Merlot and Cabernet Franc and a smaller percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, allow for a beautiful expression of the Merlot grape and optimal maturity for the Cabernets. Vinification is classical: destemming; fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless-steel tanks; and 20-day skin contact on average. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months, of which 15% are new. This moderate use of new oak respects and protects the fruit, while helping the wine to develop a well-integrated structure.

This huge appellation around the gorgeous medieval hill town of Saint-Emilion is the most fascinating of Bordeaux, with more than 12,000 acres broken down among a dizzying number of mostly small Châteaux. Cabernet Franc has long been the favored grape in most of the region, but the percentage of Merlot, particularly on soils rich in clay, is sizable and growing. Styles vary tremendously within this large area, depending on soil, blend of varieties and vinification and aging of the wines. Many of the finest wines come from two very different areas within the appellation: a limestone-rich escarpment around the town of Saint-Emilion (the Côtes; some of the best are Ausone and Pavie), and a sand and gravel plateau adjacent to Pomerol (the Graves; includes Cheval Blanc and Figeac).

Quality close to perfection. Château Belair is a 1er Grand Cru Classé and neighbour of Château Ausone. It has an extraordinary history: since the 15th century it belonged to the influential Canolles family, which even managed to survive the expropriations of the French Revolution. In the 19th century, Château Bel Air was one of the most sought-after estates of all, when a change of ownership and the phylloxera disaster destroyed the estate's pre-eminence. Of course, it always remained at 1er Grand Cru level. In 2008, Belair was bought by the Moueix wine dynasty (Pétrus and many others) and has since been linked to Château Magdelaine.
With the 2002 Chateau Belair 1er Grand Cru Classe St.Emilion, comes a personal present meant for a person who is very special to you.
