Weinviertel is Austria's most important wine region in terms of both its area under vine and the quantity of wine it produces. Grüner Veltliner accounts for more than one half of this area, making Weinviertel home to more than half of all Austrian Grüner Veltliner vines. The Weinviertel type of Grüner Veltliner is recognizable from its spicy "peppery" flavor. The association with green, white and, due to higher ripeness also black pepper is complimented by a fruit-driven bouquet and crisp acidity. From the vintage 2009 on, the powerful Weinviertel DAC Reserve exists beside this classic-dry, fresh type.
The entry-level Grüner Veltliner from Pollerhof. - Loess soil, steel tank. Aromatic, authentic Lössveltliner, apple, on the palate, fruit presence, juicy, fresh, pleasant acidity - says Erwin Poller. Exactly!

The Knyphausen Winery boasts the finest vineyards in Erbach. The dry, organically produced estate wine, Riesling 1141, cites the first documented mention of the estate in 1141. It is a typical Rheingau Riesling with exotic fruit aromas and spice. The Draiser Hof was acquired by Baron von Knyphausen in 1818. Since then, the family has cultivated 17 hectares in Erbach. Baron Knyphausen has been a member of the VdP (Association of German Winemakers) since 1972 and a co-founder of the Charta Association.

In Trittenheim, the Moselle turns 180° and gives the beautiful Milz estate wine its name. Viticulture on the steep slopes of the Moselle is one of the oldest and most important in Germany. No wonder that the Milz winery can look back on a very long history. The Milz family has been a winegrower in Trittenheim on the Moselle loop since 1520, parts of the still existing wine cellar date from 1680. The Milz wines are classic Moselle Rieslings, the ideal type of low-alcohol, lightly sweet Kabinett with an extremely long shelf life. These are exactly the wines that were more expensive than the best Burgundies and Bordeaux on Europe's restaurant menus around 1900.

The best embodiment of the Chenin Blanc grape variety is undoubtedly Vouvray. Mineral with floral aromas. Honeydew melon, green apple, and honey wax, this classic long-lasting wine offers a wide range of dry, medium-dry, and sweet wines, and, of course, sparkling wines.
The vineyards of Vouvray are located upstream of Tours, north of the Loire, and are planted on clayey-gravelly or clayey-limestone soils over chalky tuff.

The DOC Valpolicella is a viticultural zone of the province of Verona, Italy, east of Lake Garda. The history of Cantine Tinazzi began with the commitment and passion of Eugenio Tinazzi at the end of the ‘60s in Cavaion Veronese, on the shores of Lake Garda. A quick and successful development of the business led the family to expand their properties in the Valpolicella Valley and in Apulia, a region with a great potential. The wines of the Cantine Tinazzi are now sold in more than 30 countries around the world.

Adèle Rouzé has 5.4 hectares of the best Sauvignon Blanc soil in Quincy: alluvial (alluvial) terraces with quartz gravel that produce a thoroughly dry, mineral Sauvignon Blanc. Compared to the very puristic white wine of her brother Jacques Rouze, Adèle's only wine shines with more body and fine citrus and floral aromas. The four-month aging on the fine yeast (sur lie) provides the basis for this.
The proximity to the city of Bourges as well as the limestone soils, which are favorable for viticulture and similar to those in Sancerre, 60 km away, had a beneficial effect on the development of viticulture. Today, 223 hectares (as of 2005) of a total of 1000 hectares of approved vineyards are planted. The area is divided into the municipalities of Quincy (the eponymous municipality) and Brinay. The wine has had the status of an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée since August 6, 1936. 25 winegrowers share the vineyards. The climate is continental. Winters are cold and the vineyards are at high risk of frost in spring. The proximity of the Loire with the adjacent forests and steep slopes enable viticulture through their tempering influence. The very small Quincy wine region, which was famous over 100 years ago, produces exclusively white wines from Sauvignon Blanc.

Vernatsch - Schiava in Italian - is the red grape variety of South Tyrol. If it is grown ambitiously and with reduced yields, as is the case with Peter Zemmer, the light-footed cherry fruitiness and the violet scent result in a fine elegance and structure. The wine can be drunk slightly chilled.
The Zemmer winery was founded in 1928 and is now family-run in the third generation. The vineyards have an altitude difference of 800 m and loose, well-aerated soils made of dolomite and limestone with glacial deposits of gravel, gravel, sand and clay.

Arneis grapes is a native variety in the Roero area, located north of Alba, Langhe. Arneis is one of the oldest white varieties of Piedmont, known since the 16th Century. In the heart of wine-growing Piedmont , in the hills of the Langhe is the estate vineyards of Fontanafredda, located in the villages of Serralunga d'Alba, Diano d'Alba and Barolo. 70 hectares planted with the Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Moscato varieties. At each vintage, grapes are consigned to Fontanafredda by nearly 400 growers in the Langhe and Roero, whose loyalty to the company have endured for generations. The viticulture is carried exclusively on hillsides with vineyards which have an average altitude between 200 and 400 metres. Mainly calcareous, the soil can differ within the space of just a few dozen metres: at times loose, with a sand content, at others firmer, with a higher proportion of silt, and above-all clay.

Individuality is our favorite quality in wine: each year, the same grapes can give very different wines according to the climate, and then the winemaker will also slightly alter the taste of that specific wine, choosing to let the bunch of grapes ripening in the sun one more day or choosing the fermentation technique he prefers, the oak barrel or the stainless steel barrel. Either way, passion is the essential ingredient to make a fine and original wine. That is exactly what Erwin Poller has got: passion and commitment to his authenitic project. He is a master at producing excellent wines and a mindful narrator of the stories behind each bottle of wine. The peculiar labels of his bottles cleverly serve this purpose: telling a unique story of enthusiasm and originality.
What Germans call "Löss" is a specific clay with a high percentage of calcium carbonate and iron hydroxide. These substances confer on this yellow muscat and sauvignon blanc blend an intense aroma. This is art inside and outside the bottle of wine.
Fine wine, friendship, respect and individuality: these are the reasons that led us to choose Poller as the representative of Austrian wines in our shop.

Erwin Poller’s most precious land was owned by Frau Mayer. This passionate woman took care of it till she got very old. Such a great land and soil can only make a great wine: the green Valtellina in this bottle is perfect. To pay homage to Frau Mayer for her generosity and devotion, Poller designed the labels of this Valtillina inspired by the wallpaper decorating the old woman cottage.
Fine wine, friendship, respect and individuality: these are the reasons that led us to choose Poller as the representative of Austrian wines in our shop.

Fresh, consistently dry Gavi with aromas of lemon, acacia and ripe apple. The Cortese di Gavi grape variety, also known as Gavi, is typical of southern Piedmont. In the province of Alessandria it was mentioned as the most important grape variety in 1798. It is the basis for Italy's most famous white wine, Gavi (named after the small community of Gavi). Paolo Manzone and his wife Lusiella only decided to continue the family winery in 1999 and have relied on rigorous quality ever since. The winery cultivates 14 hectares of excellent vineyards in the vicinity of renowned winemakers such as Vietti.

Nebbiolo is a red Italian wine grape variety predominantly associated with the Piedmont region where it makes the wines of Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Gattinara. Nebbiolo is thought to derive its name from the Italian word nebbia which means fog. Nebbiolo does not adapt exceptionally well to various vineyard soil types, preferring soils with high concentration of calcareous marl such as those found on the right bank of the Tanaro river around Alba where the finest Barolo and Barbaresco are produced.
