Côtes de Bourg is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) for Bordeaux wine situated around the small town of Bourg-sur-Gironde near Bordeaux, France. The first vineyards in the area were founded by the Romans. In the Middle Ages, Bourg was a major port for wine and the vineyards developed at the same tempo as the estuary traffic. Red Côtes de Bourg are garnet in colour and are predominantly based on the Merlot grape, blended with smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Some Chateaux still use Malbec as part of the blend. The vine has been established in le Bourgeais for centuries and the current varieties have been selected because of their performance in relation to the soil. The Côtes de Bourg are characterized by the diversity and richness of their soils.
Although the Côtes de Bourg is composed of mainly clay and limestone soils, their make-up is so rich that there is a veritable mosaic of sand and gravel in the area around Pugnac. Three types are predominant. Firstly, the Sienna-red Quaternary alluvium that is quite specific to the region and situated more on the heights: Merlot and Malbec are widely cultivated. Merlot and Cabernet are planted on clay and sandy gravel soils while Merlot is also grown on the widespread areas of clay and limestone.

In the 1950s, the Clos des Menuts only covered one hectare of vineyards. The Volnay appellation, named after the place of the same name, with 226 hectares of vineyards is located in the Côte de Beaune area on the Burgundian Côte d'Or between the municipalities of Pommard and Meursault. Château Grand-Puy Ducasse was classified 5th growth in the famous 1855 classification. Three large plots in the best parts of Pauillac form the Pauillac, Grand Cru Classé en 1855 vineyard of this classified growth. This unusual configuration is a direct inheritance from the estate’s founder, Pierre
Ducasse, an eminent lawyer. In the 18th century he gave a single name to a fine vineyard holding, which was put together through inheritance and purchases. When he died in 1797, his son, Pierre, inherited a 60-hectare exploitation, named Ducasse-Grand-Puy-Artigues-Arnaud, of which two
third were planted with vines. The estate was classified in 1855, under the name of Artigues Arnaud.

The characteristic of the Pauillac terroir is its exceptional relief: the many undulating ridges make it unique morphologically speaking. Highly favourable conditions facilitate the dissection of the layer of gravel. This thin, Garonne gravel from whose very poverty springs great richness, has an extremely effective natural drainage.

With Gevrey Chambertin you reach the area of ​​the great Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits. Massive, full-bodied wines that are allowed to mature for a long time. The La Justice plot has lime-clay soil with good drainage. The vines here are 50 years old.

The Gevrey Chambertin appellation covers 405 hectares on a hillside and is one of the most important red wine-growing zones of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. The municipal appellations are at 240 to 280 meters above sea level, the Premier Crus and Grand Crus, as is mostly the case in Burgundy, at 260 to 320 meters above sea level. Gevrey Chambertin is home to 26 Premier Crus and 9 Grand Crus. The noble grape variety Pinot Noir comes into its own here. It was Napoleon's favorite wine.

The family winery has been run by Manuel Olivier since 1993.

The Pommard appellation, named after the commune of the same name, with 313 hectares of vines, is located in the Côte de Beaune part of Burgundy's Côte d'Or. It adjoins the commune of Volnay. L'Apparita is the most famous wine from Castello di Ama and is only available to specialist retailers in limited quantities. In 1985, the wine was the first pure Merlot among the Supertuscans. The expansion takes place for 18 months in barriques.

Castello di Ama is located about 12 miles northeast of Siena in the hills of Gaiole in the heart of Chianti Classico. Ama is a modern estate comprising 500 acres of land, 200 of which are vineyards. These vineyards are divided into five important parcels; San Lorenzo, Bellavista, La Casuccia, Bertinga and Montebuoni.
Vintage 2010 heralded the introduction of Gran Selezione and the release of the new Chianti Classico, “Ama”. Ama is a blend made entirely almost with the grapes of the new clones of Sangiovese, according to our experience and the most modern technique of quality viticulture. These are planted and grown with a density of 5,200 vines per hectare in our four estate vineyards: Bellavista, Casuccia, San Lorenzo and Montebuoni, with an average age inferior to 8/10 years.

Bruno Giacosa is one of the legendary winemakers in Piedmont, his Riserva with the red-brown label is the ultimate. The single vineyard Rocche in Castiglione Falletto is one of the best vineyards in this area. The soils are very calcareous. The wine undergoes a long maceration period of 30 days.
