Montecarlo Wine, a long history over a thousand years. The history of the village is related to the history of its wine, a destiny that we find in the meaning of its ancient name Vivinaia, “ Wine Way” which crossed the Montecarlo hill. The wines of Montecarlo were by the banquets of the Popes, Nobles and Royal Families, like Pope Gregory XII, Cosimo dei Medici in Florence, and the wedding party Prince Umberto di Savoia and Maria Josè  in 1930. To produce better wines, in the 1870’s, Mr. Giulio Magnani, who was the owner at that time of the Fattoria Marchi Magnani, went to France to study the vines and wine making tecniques. He visited different areas in France, from  Bordeau he brought home – Sauvignon, Semillon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, from Rodano he  brought back  Rousanne and Syrah  and from Borgogne he brought back Pinot  Blanc  e Pinot Gris. At home he studied the right percentages of the grapes to be blended with Trebbiano with the result of producing a more elegant wines.
