The red wine from the grape variety Sankt Laurent comes from the Seewinkel region in Burgenland, which is characterised by very dry, stony and mineral soils. Quinta do Paral is located near Vidigueira in the heart of Portugal and is spread out over 100 hectares of land.  Its potential lies in the fertile clay, granite and slate soils as well as a unique microclimate create optimal conditions for a unique terroir. The excellent quality of the grape varieties allows to produce high quality wines that express the distinctive character of the Alentejo. With the acquisition of Quinta do Paral by entrepreneur Dieter Morszeck, the winery was realigned in collaboration with chief enologist Luís Morgado Leão and the autochthonous varieties of 40 year old vines experienced a renaissance. Gattinara is a red wine with Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita status produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown in vineyards in the hills in the north of the province of Vercelli, northwest of Novara, and westward toward the Alps with the town of Gattinara near ist center. It is one of a few regions in Italy that have been awarded DOCG status and shares that distinction in Piedmont with the Barolo and Barbaresco regions. The grape variety of the same name was already known in the 15th century. Due to its susceptibility to downy mildew, Arneis almost became extinct a few years ago. It has experienced a renaissance since the 1990s.

Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards with 9 hectares of vineyards. Typical for Roero is the sandy soil with clay and limestone parts. The wines from here are more aromatic and robust than their relatives from the Barolo region.

Germany is the world's third largest producer of Pinot Noir. As the name implies, it ripens late (spät) and it was brought to Germany from Burgundy. Called Pinot Noir in France, this grape produces elegant, velvety wines with a distinctive bouquet reminiscent of bitter almonds or blackberries. Weingut Höfling is a family-owned winery in Eußenheim situated to the Northwest of Würzburg. Almost all of their vineyards are present on slopes and hilly terrain, and most of all of the work in the vineyards is by hands.  The people in the winery work very hard and with a commitment to produce unique Franconian wines that show the qualities of the region. So they uses domestic wood and hometown barrels and like the most prized Franken wines were traditionally bottled in a Bocksbeutel, a squat green or brown flagon with a round body, is by Höfling too.

Red Côtes de Bourg are garnet in colour and are predominantly based on the Merlot grape, blended with smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Some Chateaux still use Malbec as part of the blend. The vine has been established in le Bourgeais for centuries and the current varieties have been selected because of their performance in relation to the soil. The Côtes de Bourg are characterized by the diversity and richness of their soils.

The wines of Saint-Émilion are typically blended from different grape varieties, the three main ones being Merlot (60% of the blend), Cabernet Franc (nearly 30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (around 10%). The Osterberg is an Alsatian Grand Cru site with clay-limestone soil on an east-southeast slope. From here comes an elegant Riesling, with minerality (flint), aromas of citrus fruits, long finish.

The Cave de Ribeauvillé is the oldest wine cooperative in France. This association of winegrowers from Alsace has existed since 1895. At the same time, the vineyard around the town of Ribeauville is referred to under this name - a total of 235 hectares of vineyards with at least 8 Grand Cru sites.

A classic Roero Rosso - dense, complex with fine fruit. Aged for 12 months in large, barely toasted wooden barrels. Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards with 9 hectares of vineyards. Typical for Roero is the sandy soil with clay and limestone parts. The wines from here are more aromatic and robust than their relatives from the Barolo region.

Silvaner is an old variety that once was the most important grape in Germany. It likes average exposure to sunshine and needs moist soil. Silvaner is generally best enjoyed while it is young. Especially, it is found in Franken, Rheinhessen and Saale-Unstrut. Weingut Höfling is a family-owned winery in Eußenheim situated to the Northwest of Würzburg. Almost all of their vineyards are present on slopes and hilly terrain, and most of all of the work in the vineyards is by hands.  The people in the winery work very hard and with a commitment to produce unique Franconian wines that show the qualities of the region. So they uses domestic wood and hometown barrels and like the most prized Franken wines were traditionally bottled in a Bocksbeutel, a squat green or brown flagon with a round body, is by Höfling too.

The Herrenberg Grosse Gewächs. The 19-hectare vineyard borders the Abtsberg and is benefiting from climate change. The wines are spicy, intense, with a certain creaminess. The Maximin Grünhaus vineyard has only Grand Cru sites. The vineyards of the old estate on the Ruwer are situated in a spectacular location: the Abtsberg, Herrenberg and Bruderberg vineyards extend in a row from the small Ruwer river and the south-facing von Schubert family manor house. The soil consists of bluish Devonian slate on a steep slope.

The classification of German wines is very different from that of Italy. The VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) is the Association of Quality German Winegrowers, and brings together the producers who can offer the highest results, very similar to the organisation of Burgundy territories. Furthermore, wines that are only made from grapes from certain plots of the best vineyards are called VDP Grosse Lage, similar to the 'Grand Cru' in Bourgogne. In this bottle of Riesling, the parcel is in Herrenberg. And finally within the Grosse Lage there are the Grosses Gewächs (GG), the dry wines in this category.

Barao de Vilar LBV, Late Bottled Vintage, is full-bodied, rich but perfectly balanced with soft peppery tannins and with a fine acidity that ensure perfect balance on the palate.
