The 28.5 ha estate of Chateau Rauzan-Gassies stretches 28 km northwest of Bordeaux across the communes of Margaux and Cantenac. Rauzan Gassies was founded in 1661 and separated as a small part from its namesake Rausan Segla just over a century later as a result of the French Revolution. Rauzan Gassies is situated on the 20 metre thick gravel bed near the Gironde, close to Château Margeaux and other 2eme and 3eme grands crus classés. Châteaux Malescot St Exupery is a 3ème Cru Classé, located in the appellation of Margaux.
