Officially, the winery was founded by Giacomo Borgogno & Figli in 1848. However, private correspondence shows that wines from the Borgogno family have been produced since 1761. Château Rabaud-Promis covers 33 hectares of vineyards in Sauternes and is classified as 1er Grand Cru Classé en 1855.
