Wine 1963
By holding a bottle of the vintage 1963 in your hands and tasting such an old wine is, therefore, a tribute to the past and to those who have worked on making the best out of nature to produce the best wine they could.Especially when it comes to a year, like 1963, in which there are very few, absolute rarities left. Even in the most difficult years, in which wine was made by choosing only ... the few healthy and ripe grapes, greatly limiting the quantity, the wines we kept in the cellar from the vintage 1963 are the ones that best endured the difficulties. We have collected these wine bottles of the year 1963 and stored them in the best way possible, until they pass into the hands of the next connoisseur.
A real old and drinkable wine from 1963. Every wine lover is fascinated by a perfectly aged and rare red wine with a world-famous origin.

Wine vertical
A bottle of wine of the year 1963 is a rarity and unique finding. The taste of the wine, which is defined by its old age, can be on the limit of enjoyment for some. Therefore, an interesting alternative to buying a wine as old as ones anniversary, can be to recreate the years of the jubilee with three younger wine bottles, which together are as old. The tasting of the years through single steps is a charming present for any wine lover. Wine experts love these kind of vertical wine tastings: they emphasize the different phases of these valuable wines, and how their color and taste both change when ripening.- 1940

The Kiedricher Heiligenstock vineyard takes its name from the old Gothic crucifix that has served as a cross in the vineyard since the 14th century. The location includes the famous individual vineyards Gräfenberg, Turmberg, Wasseros, Klosterberg and Sandgrub.
Riesling is the typical white grape variety of Germany. Characteristic fruit and a pronounced acidity create a lively balance in a good Riesling. You often think you can recognize the origins of a Riesling straight away. The most famous are the Riesling vineyards of the Rheingau and the Moselle. The wines are very long-lived.

Messias is one of the most important port wine houses. The 1963 port matured in wooden barrels and was bottled in 1994 or 2002, depending on the batch - as is usual with trustworthy producers, this information is also on the label.
Port wine is a sweet wine that comes exclusively from the Douro Valley. The name comes from the port city of Porto, from which the port has been shipped mainly to England since the end of the 17th century.
In the 17th century, the idea of stopping wine fermentation by adding 80% wine distillate was developed. As a result, the sugar was not fermented any further and the wine retained its sweetness. This so-called fortification means that port wine has an alcohol content of between 19 and 22 percent by volume and lasts longer.
After a good two years of storage in a large barrel under airtight conditions, the Tawny Port is transferred to a small wooden barrel, the Pipa, with a capacity of 550 liters. Here it breathes (oxidizes) more and changes its color to tawny. Contact with the wood also changes the taste towards aromas of nuts, dried fruits etc. Standard Tawnys are filtered and bottled after 6-7 years.
Port wine is usually available as a non-vintage fortified wine. Only exceptionally good vintages such as 1963 are declared as a port wine vintage and allow the production of a tawny port or even a vintage port, i.e. a vintage port wine.
