Grignolino d’Asti is a DOC for dry red wine in the Barolo area in the Italian region of Piedmont. The Bechtheimer Hasensprung is about 145 to 185 meters above sea level facing south. The name of the individual layer comes from the Middle High German word "spring/sprung" and means source. A rabbit drinking trough was probably found in this area. The topsoil consists of a sediment of siliceous gravels, sand and clay. A high content of iron and aluminum oxide in the subsoil is characteristic. This cements the clays into sand-like grains, so the soil warms up more easily and is well aerated deep down.
