1995 is one of the vintages that now show the best sides of a mature wine. A vintage I recommend if you want to drink a really good wine. The first half of the year was unstable. But when it came down to it, for the grapes to ripen perfectly, there was a real heat wave. The grape harvest in the vintage 1995 could start early. Dense, now very supple wines emerged. There is certainly an ideal age at which high-quality red wines reach the optimum in complexity and depth. ... Unfortunately, we can rarely enjoy this. 30-year-old wines have their price. But once in a lifetime, a wine lover should be allowed to experience such a wine. High-quality vineyards produce the best results year after year and thus long-lasting wines. That is why very good wine stocks mainly contain well-known wines from the classic wine-growing regions.

Hermitage is one of the famous Grand Cru on the Côte du Rhône and the Hermitage Gambert de Loche the best wine of cave de tain. The very elegant Syrah offers dark berry, spicy aromas with strong tannins and is very long-lasting.
The Hermitage Hill was formed in the Ice Age when the Rhône broke through this eastern extension of the Massif Central following a rapid fall in sea level. Despite its small size, the Hermitage is geologically very diverse. In the highest, western part, the soil consists of granite, which weathers into fine clay. The eastern, larger part of the slope, on the other hand, is formed in the middle by rubble made of sand and limestone that the Rhône had transported from the Alps. At the foot of the slope there are younger sediments from the Würme Ice Age. The highest points are again covered with loess. To protect the thin layers of soil from slipping, walls made of limestone were built. The name of the extremely long-lasting red wine Hermitage goes back to a hermitage founded in 1224 (Hermitage = hermit).
