The Rheingau single vineyard Kiedricher Sandgrub has a southerly orientation with only a slight slope and therefore gets a lot of sun. The soils mostly consist of deep loess and loess loam, which are also interspersed with gravel and sand - hence the name. A special feature is that tertiary limestone occurs again and again, producing fine Rieslings with elegant acidity. The Kiedricher Sandgrub is now in the VdP 1st Lage (Premier Cru).

To the east of Hallgarten is the Jungfer vineyard. Today, its core in the VdP is a large location (Grand Cru). The name probably comes from the Cistercian monks of the neighboring Eberbach monastery, who dedicated this vineyard to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The vineyards, which slope to the south and southwest, have many hours of sunshine and the high proportion of quartzite in the sandy soil also stores heat. Château du Teigney is family-run in the fifth generation and now covers 33 hectares of vineyards in Langon in Graves. The wines from Graves established the fame of Bordeaux. The vineyards stretch 50 kilometers south from Bordeaux. The name Graves only came into use in the Middle Ages and is derived from the gravelly soil (terre graveleuse). The pebbles are picked up and placed next to the vines. They store the sun's heat during the day and release the heat to the grapes late into the night. This heat naturally promotes the ripening process and increases the sugar content of the grapes.

Chateau Lafon Rochet in St. Estephe dates back to the middle of the 17th century. The estate was founded In 1650. While many Bordeaux vineyards were confiscated during the French Revolution, that did not happen to Lafon Rochet. The Left Bank estate remained the property of the same family for more than two centuries. In 1959 the Tesseron family purchased the estate.
The 45 hectare vineyards of Lafon Rochet consists in one single, large parcel with three soil types, limestone, marl and clay. Chateau Lafon Rochet is located no far from Chateau Cos d’Estournel and Chateau Lafite Rothschild in Pauillac. The St. Estephe Bordeaux wine vineyard of Lafon Rochet is planted with 54% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
