The red wine variety Garnacha is ideal for hot, low-rainfall growing areas. The wines there are concentrated and long-lasting, despite the relatively low-tannin grapes. Characteristics of the red wines are intense fruit with a cool blueberry aroma and a velvety structure. Garnacha is one of the most widespread grape varieties worldwide. It can be found in southern France under the name Grenache as well as the pure variety Cannonau in Sardinia. Here the wine comes from the most famous Spanish growing region - Rioja.

The Hacienda López de Haro is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta, near the historic town of San Vincente de la Sonsierra, one of the places with the longest wine-growing tradition. The region offers the best conditions for the Tempranillo grape variety. The vineyards are protected in the north by the Toloño Mountains, the climate in the south is positively influenced by the Ebro River. The Bodegas has 5000 barriques in which the red wines acquire elegance and softness.

The northern Spanish wine-growing region of La Rioja stretches along the Ebro River. The vineyards are cultivated on calcareous and clayey soils. The red wines from Rioja are traditionally always a cuvée, i.e. a blend of different grape varieties. The most important is Tempranillo, followed by Garnacha Tinta (fr. Grenache Noir), Mazuelo (fr. Carignan) and Graciano.

Riesling is one of the noble grape varieties and is capable of producing a variety of extraordinary white wine styles, and is most known for the sweeter-style German wine it produces.  Although sweet wines dominate this category, there are some amazingly dry and complex wine is produced in Alsace, Germany and the United States. This grape variety dominates in Germany and the majority of the white wines produced there are made in the sweeter style. There is a classification system in place, which categorizes wines by their sweetness. From driest to sweetest, they are Kabinett, Spätlese, Auslese,  Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese. These whites range from the semisweet, lighter style to the extremely sweet, lush and dessert wine style. Veit is one of Piesport’s oldest winegrowing families. The vineyard has 7 hectares in and around the famous village of Piesport in the Mosel. 

Fruity Sicilian red wine from organic farming - red berries, a hint of lavender. The red grape variety Nero d’Avola is cultivated almost exclusively on the island of Sicily. With over 14,000 hectares of vineyards, it is the most common red wine variety there. The “Black Woman from Avola” is named after the small town in the southeast of the island in the province of Siracusa. From there the grape spread to almost the entire island. The high-quality variety has thin-skinned, small and intensely purple berries that ripen late. It produces wines with strong alcohol and color that are also ideal for aging in barriques.

Today, Susumaniello is almost exclusively found in Apulia, although it originally comes from Croatia. It was almost extinct because of its low yield. In the meantime, however, ambitious winegrowers are again relying on the red grape variety to produce extraordinary wines. The hot, sunny climate of Apulia softens the initially high acidity of the Susumaniello. The wine has a nice fruity spiciness. The resemblance to Sangiovese is noticeable.

With the best carefully handpicked Grillo grapes, coming from vineyards trained with guyot the system, we produce the “Vigna di Pettineo” selection. This wine has a straw yellow colour, a refined and persistent bouquet, a vibrant and lovely acidity, with a length aftertaste with boisé fragrances. Vinification is 12 h crio-maceration on marcs, beginning of fermentation at low temperature in steel, end of fermentation in French oak tonneaux. The ageing is 4 months in tonneaux, 3 months in steel and 6/9 months in bottle.

From the bush trained vineyards, we always produce Frappato grapes for the production of “Vigna di Pettineo” selection. From the best carefully handpicked grapes, we make this cherry red wine, with violet reflection and a underbush hints. The freshness of tannins give a lovely pleasure and a refined taste. Vinification is 7 days maceration with marcs and fermentation at controlled temperature. The ageing is 1 month in steel and 3 months in bottle.

The Zibibbo is one of the most typical wines of Sicily. The Phoenicians probably brought the noble grape variety Muscat d'Alexandrie to the island. Often made sweet, Gibele is a dry, fruity, fresh white wine with an intoxicating scent of nutmeg. The Carlo Pellegrino winery was one of the first Sicilian producers of Marsala in 1880.

Sicily is considered the cradle of Italian viticulture. Many of today's autochthonous grapes descend from the ancient grape varieties cultivated at the time.

Tardana is a rare white grape variety that ripens extremely late. It matures in La Manchuela on white limestone and is aged on the lees for 3 months and then 1/3 in amphoras. The result is a mineral, chalky, full-bodied white wine with a touch of honey.

Bodegas Gratias is a unique, fascinating wine project - from the relatively unknown wine region of La Manchuela in the hinterland of Valencia towards La Mancha. What is special about this small region are the rare autochthonous grape varieties such as Bobal (which also forms the backbone of the y tu de quien eres ?) and Tardana. The young families and summer lovers of the Bodegas Gratias have dedicated themselves entirely to the unique wines from these grape varieties - working ambitiously organically and with an excellent feel for aromatic subtleties and precision.

The Innesto is a white pressed wine made from the red wine grape variety of Etna Nerello Mascalese. This gave the wine a nice full fruit. The Valenti winery is relatively young. It was only founded in 2004 and newly planted on almost 30 hectares. The soils are among the best on Mount Etna and in Sicily in general - Passopisciaro in the municipality of Castiglione di Sizilia.

A typical Nebbiolo from the Roero growing region - powerful, fragrant, without wood aging. Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards with 9 hectares of vineyards. Typical for Roero is the sandy soil with clay and limestone parts. The wines from here are more aromatic and robust than their relatives from the Barolo region.

A Ripasso is, in a sense, a small Amarone. Through a second maceration from the Amarone pressing, it takes on the complex, intense fruit and spice aromas of an Amarone.

The Recioto or Amarone is produced in the Valpolicella wine region using a special process. After the harvest, the best grapes are dried on wooden grids for two to four months. This creates extraordinarily concentrated, intense wines that finely balance sweetness and bitterness in their best representatives. The term Amarone usually refers to the dry version of Recioto. The Sartori winery was founded in Valpollicella in 1898.

Best Primitivo of the Sampietrana wine cooperative. The red grape variety Primitivo is mainly cultivated in the southern Italian region of Apulia. It probably comes from Croatia/Dalmatia and was given its name in the 17th century by Benedictine monks due to its early maturity (Latin primativus = first-mover). From there it probably found its way to Italy and also to Germany via Austria under the name Blauer Scheuchner. Since it was first detected near the mountain town of Gioia, it is also called Primitivo di Gioia. It produces deep, dark, spicy and high-alcohol red wines and is often used as a blending partner for late-ripening varieties. According to Dr. According to DNA analyzes carried out by Carole Meredith in 2001 at the University of California in collaboration with Croatian grape specialists, the Primitivo is identical to the Californian Zinfandel.

Silvaner is an old variety that once was the most important grape in Germany. It likes average exposure to sunshine and needs moist soil. Silvaner is generally best enjoyed while it is young. Especially, it is found in Franken, Rheinhessen and Saale-Unstrut. Pinot Blanc has been cultivated in South Tyrol since 1850 and has been one of the most important grape varieties for the St. Michael Winery for decades. With over 1,000 hectares of vineyards, Eppan - the gateway to the Dolomites - is South Tyrol's largest wine-growing area in the heart of the province of Bolzano. The 385 hectares of vineyards belonging to the 330 members of St. Michael-Eppan are spread over sunny slopes. The Schulthauser was first bottled in 1982 and has since become one of South Tyrol's best-known Pinot Blancs. The southeast-facing vineyards are located in the parcel called "Schulthaus", above Castel Moos in Eppan-Berg, at altitudes of 540 to 620 metres above sea level, where limestone gravel soils with clay predominate. The vines are between 10 and 40 years old. In 2000, the winery was awarded the title "Cantina dell'anno" (Winery of the Year).

Graves in the Bordeaux region is an ancient wine-growing area. The Romans planted vineyards here as early as the 1st century. The wines from Graves established the fame of today's Bordeaux. The name Graves first appeared in the Middle Ages and is derived from the gravelly soil (terre graveleuse). The pebbles are collected and placed next to the vines. They store the heat of the sun during the day and release the heat to the grapes late into the night. This heat promotes the ripening process in a natural way and increases the sugar content of the grapes. Another special feature are the rose bushes planted at the end of each row of vines (originally to indicate mildew infestation).

The wines matured on the fine lees in the tonneau for 10-12 months. They are mineral with delicate aromas - honeydew melon, quince and pear.

The Rosso di Montalcino from Poggio alle Mura is one of the very good small Brunellos of the wine region. 100% Sangiovese from the carefully researched and selected grape variety variations at Banfi - there are a total of about 600 Sangiovese clones with very specific characteristics.

The Gambino family winery, founded in 1978, is the highest on the Etna volcano. The vineyards are above Linguaglossa between 500 and 1400 meters above sea level! The premium wine from the Baglio di Pianetto winery is named after the stop on the Circumetnea, the small railway that circles the Etna volcano. The organically certified winery is located at Fermata 125. Etna Rosso is a DOC for dry red wines in the Italian region (island) of Sicily. Sicily is considered the cradle of Italian viticulture. Many of today's indigenous wine grapes come from the ancient grape varieties cultivated back then. Sicilian wines are primarily based on two of these traditional grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese in Etna Rosso and Nero d'Avola. In the “Storia die Vini d'Italia” (History of the Wines of Italy), published in 1596, wines from here are mentioned and their exceptional quality is attributed to the fly ash blown from Etna.

The Domain Chatelain is family-owned for the 12th generation and stands for traditional white wines from Chablis and Pouilly Fumé. The Chablis wine region is the northernmost wine region in the Burgundy region. The name was particularly well known in the 1970s and 1980s and was considered a synonym for a dry white wine at that time. Chablis is almost equidistant from Champagne, from Sancerre on the Loire and from the nearest Burgundy locations on the Côte d’Or. The cool wine-growing climate gives Chardonnay a pronounced acidity, which the winemaker usually leaves in favor of the fruitiness of the wine. The wines are therefore usually aged in stainless steel tanks and do not undergo malolactic fermentation. The steely acidity, which is largely determined by the comparatively high proportion of malic acid, is one of the trademarks of Chablis and gives the white wine a remarkable longevity.

The Etna Rosso from Donnafugata is a pure Nerello Mascalese. Very complex aromas, spices from the Orient (cardamom, star anise), dark cherries and strawberries with the gentle tannins that are typical of the grape variety.

The famous Sicilian winery Donnafugata, founded in a relatively short time (1983), actually comes from Pantelleria and Marsala. A few years ago, excellent vineyards were added in Vittoria and on the Etna volcano.

Timorasso is still something of an insider tip among the wines of Piedmont. The indigenous white grape variety Timorasso is grown in the DOC Derthona in the southeast of Piedmont in the province of Alessandria. The region formed by three valleys is the warmest in the Piedmont. The grape variety ripens early and initially shows floral-fruity notes. With maturity, minerality, honey aromas and complexity are added. The wines are rarely aged in wood - the grape variety inherently brings tannins and strength. The wine is extremely long-lasting.

Fontanafredda is one of the oldest wineries in Piedmont, based in the impressive Castello in Serralungs d'Alba.

Gigondas is a small Côte du Rhône appellation in a picturesque location at the foot of the cliffs of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Gravel terraces with reddish clay mineral. The climate is warmer here, the wines are always a cuvée of mainly - maximum 80% - Grenache, a small amount of Syrah, Mouvedre, Cinsault and Clairette Rose.

The Lancon family has only owned the vineyards in Gigondas for a few years. The Domaine de la Solitude winery has been owned by the Lancon family for over 400 years, making it one of the oldest in the Châteauneuf du Pape wine region. The oldest wine at Domaine de la Solitude dates back to 1780. Today, the brothers Jean and Michel Lancon manage the winery's 40 hectares of vineyards.

The Pinot Gris Reserve from the single vineyard Giatl is perhaps Peter Zemmer's most famous wine. Extremely dense fruit, pear, honeydew melon, woody notes - after 12 months in oak barrels. Giatl is a hot valley location on gravel-sand soils and produces a lot of ripeness.

The Zemmer winery was founded in 1928 and is now family-run in the third generation. The vineyards have an altitude difference of 800 m and loose, well-aerated soils made of dolomite and limestone with glacial deposits of gravel, gravel, sand and clay.
