Three excellent wines of the Bordeaux region - all Grand Cru Classé from Saint Emilion for the vintage 1943.
The tasting of 80 years through single steps is a charming present for any wine lover.
Wine experts love these kind of vertical wine tastings: they emphasize the different phases of these valuable wines, and how their color and taste both change when ripening.
1985=38 years + 1998=25 years + 2006=17 years = 80 years !
The most interesting thing is the wine-tasting of a vertical which has wines with the same characteristic. Just like these classified Grand Cru Classé wines, from St. Emilion.
Thanks to the wine vertical for the 80th jubilation, you can elegantly avoid a true dichotomy. In fact, any proud owner of a bottle from his birth date asks himself if he really wants to open the wine bottle, or if he preferably keeps it in his wine vault. With the wine vertical, you can taste the last 80 years, step after step.

Three bottles of wine legends from three classic wine regions for the vertical tasting for the 1942 vintage. Not just the vintage, but a vertical tasting, a mind game from which the age of 80 years can be added up.
1985=37 years + 1994=28 years + 2007=15 years = together 80 years!
A Grand Cru Classé from Saint Emilion from the very good Bordeaux vintage of 1985, a legendary Barolo Aldo Conterno from 1994 and a perfectly matured Moselle Riesling from the top German vintage of 2007 from the Grosse Lage Trittenheimer Leiterchen
Tasting the past few years step by step is a charming gift with a meaning for a wine lover. The selected vintages also stand for a review of the formative phases of the jubilee's life. The age of the year 1942 - 80 years is the sum of the ages of the three individual years.
Wine experts love such vertical tastings.
Very old wines from the 1942 vintage have an exorbitant price if they are in very good condition and still drinkable. And they are less suitable for being drunk in the classic way by the glass, but unfold their charm when tasting them in homeopathic doses - i.e. a few sips. Mature wines from the 70s - 80s, on the other hand, are very suitable for a real tasting, a real drinking.

Three bottles of fine Grand Cru Classé from the St. Emilion wine region in Bordeaux for the vertical tasting of the 1942 vintage. But not just the vintage, but a vertical tasting, a mind game from which the age of 80 years can be calculated.

Wine experts love such vertical tastings. It becomes very clear how high-quality wines show themselves in different phases of their development. How wines change from color to flavor as they age.
The most impressive is the tasting of a vertical in wines with the same characteristics, such as merlot-influenced, velvety wines with different maturities. As here with the wines from St. Emilion classified as Grand Cru Classé.

Recognition of DOCG status came in 1980. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano production zone comprises the land belonging to the municipal area of Montepulciano in the province of Siena, a particularly favourable location on the hilly ridge between Val di Chiana and Val d’Orcia. The land in this production zone is at altitudes of between 250 and 580 metres a.s.l. and the quality of the wines produced here is largely influenced by its climactic and geological features. The grapes are from 70% of Prugnolo Gentile, a type of Sangiovese, and the rest is Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Mammolo, other locally and traditional grapes in Siena. The Gattavecchi family has dedicated itself to wine production for over a hundred years. By the 1950’s, Valente Gattavecchi was already going beyond the borders of Italy to introduce the best selection of Vino Nobile – refined in the ancient convent of Santa Maria dei Servi in Montepulciano.

Morey Saint Denis stands for elegant fine Pinot Noir. The small community has only 150 hectares between Gevrey Chambertin and Chambolle Musigny on the Burgundian Côte d'Or. The vineyards are excellent, Bonnes Mares and Clos de Lambray have a high reputation among wine lovers.
The Côte d'Or shares a southern portion with the Côte de Beaune and a northern portion with the Côte de Nuits. It runs along the fault of the Burgundy limestone hills and the Saône graben. The limestone of this region comes from the Middle Jurassic and the Upper Jurassic. The vineyards are located on the south-east facing slopes between 150 and 400 meters above sea level. A layer of marl lies over a subsoil of Jura limestone. Erosion is a key factor in determining the quality of the individual plots (climats). The best locations are in the upper part of the vineyard slopes on the edge of the limestone.

Classic old vintage port. The 1940 Port matured purposefully and reliably in wooden barrels and was bottled in 1990 - as is usual with trustworthy producers, this information is also on the label.
Port is the name given to a sweet wine originating exclusively from the Douro Valley. The name comes from the port city of Porto, from which port was shipped mainly to England from the end of the 17th century.
In the 17th century, the idea was developed to stop the fermentation of the wine by adding 80 percent wine distillate. This stopped the sugar from fermenting further and the wine retained its sweetness. Through this so-called fortification, port has an alcohol content of between 19 and 22 percent by volume and is more durable.
After the Tawny Port has been stored for a good two years under exclusion of air in the large barrel, it is transferred to a small wooden barrel, the pipa, with a capacity of 550 litres. Here it breathes (oxidises) more strongly and changes its colour to tawny. The contact with the wood also changes the taste to aromas of nuts, dried fruit, etc. Standard tawnies are filtered and bottled after 6-7 years.
Port is usually available as a vintageless fortified wine. Only exceptionally good vintages, such as 1940, are declared as vintage Port and allow the production of a Tawny Port or even a Vintage Port, i.e. a vintage Port.
