Château Meyney is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. In 1662, it was a Convent mentioned in records under the name Prieuré des Couleys. The estate belonged to the Luetkens family for several generations, and was then acquired by Mr Désiré Cordier in 1919.
Today, the estate stretches over some of the best hilltops above the Gironde Estuary. The vineyard of 51 hectares is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 30% et Petit Verdot 10%.
The Cru Bourgeois classification lists some of the châteaux from the Médoc that were not included in the 1855 Classification of Crus Classés, or Classed Growths. La Rose Pauillac was born in 1933 with the will of twenty growers coming together to make a great Pauillac. Pauillac is a small town that, since ancient times, sailors and winemakers has built on the edge of the estuary of the Gironde. In the 1960s, almost all small farms in Pauillac had joined this fine working tool and the wines reputation has spread beyond the local markets. Harvesting at La Rose Pauillac is selected according to each vineyards micro climate and the individual varietal down to the individual plot. Over time the small plots are meticulously maintained. An average benchmark of 10,000 feet per hectare perpetuates the old adage that the less place the vines have, less they produce, thus making the flagship wine, La Rose Pauillac, all the more concentrated and rich.

The Château Haut-Piquat is located in the Lussac Saint-Emilion growing area and was the first winery in 1972 taken over by the Rivière family. From the elegant wine cellar, the view over the surrounding hills is remarkable: hectares of vines and forest, especially on the hill of Picampeau, where there is also an impressive megalith. Today, the winery has 22 hectares of continuous vineyards on an excellent lime soil, as well as hills with various sand-pitted red clay formations. Château Meyney is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. In 1662, it was a Convent mentioned in records under the name Prieuré des Couleys. The estate belonged to the Luetkens family for several generations, and was then acquired by Mr Désiré Cordier in 1919.
Today, the estate stretches over some of the best hilltops above the Gironde Estuary. The vineyard of 51 hectares is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 30% et Petit Verdot 10%.
The Cru Bourgeois classification lists some of the châteaux from the Médoc that were not included in the 1855 Classification of Crus Classés, or Classed Growths. Château Grand-Puy Ducasse was classified 5th growth in the famous 1855 classification. Three large plots in the best parts of Pauillac form the Pauillac, Grand Cru Classé en 1855 vineyard of this classified growth. This unusual configuration is a direct inheritance from the estate’s founder, Pierre
Ducasse, an eminent lawyer. In the 18th century he gave a single name to a fine vineyard holding, which was put together through inheritance and purchases. When he died in 1797, his son, Pierre, inherited a 60-hectare exploitation, named Ducasse-Grand-Puy-Artigues-Arnaud, of which two
third were planted with vines. The estate was classified in 1855, under the name of Artigues Arnaud.

Château Camensac borders on the Saint-Julien appellation, in the commune of Saint-Laurent-de-Médoc, surrounded by other excellent classed growths such as La Tour Carnet and Belgrave. Camensac means on the water's way, and comes from the words "camens", which means path or way and "ac", which means water in local dialect. In 1965 it was bought by the Forner brothers, who also own the well-known Marques de Carceres bodega in Rioja. The two brothers replanted most of the 85 hectares of vineyards, the balance now being 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot. They also renovated the cuverie and the cellars and hired the renowned Bordeaux oenologist Emile Peynaud as a consultant. he Merlaut family acquired Camensac in time for the 2005 vintage. Céline Villars-Loubet who owns Chasse-Spleen and her husband, Jean-Pierre Foubet are now in charge of the estate.

Chateau La Lagune in Ludon, is the first major estate you reach when you travel from Bordeaux through famous Route du Vin. Known in pre-revolutionary times as Chateau Séguineau, after the family who owned it, La Lagune was acquired in 1819 by Jouffrey Piston and in 1855 was classed as troisième cru. In 769, While Charlemagne started his reconquest of Aquitanian, he decided to establish a fortified camp close to the hillock, “Campus Francorum”, which will become Fronsac. North of the camp, on the La Rivière place, at the end of the limestone plateau which is 60 metre high was the mound that is still called the La Rivière mound.
Perched on the top oh the hill of the Fronsac appellation, this vast 68-hectare vineyard produces wines on clay-limestone plots on the plateau and clay-limestone slopes. René Mortier Quarré who owned the estate at the beginning of the 20 century had the brilliant idea of ageing the wine in barrels in the underground quarries dug during the 18th century. The family winery of the 7th generation of the Barton family is located in the municipal appellation of Saint-Julien in the Médoc, not far from the Gironde. Thomas Barton, originally from Ireland, immigrated to Bordeaux in 1722 and founded a wine trade. His grandson Hugh Barton had to leave France after a short imprisonment in 1793 during the French Revolution. He tried unsuccessfully to acquire Château Lafite for over 15 years. Finally, in 1821 he bought the Château Langoa, which he renamed to its current name, and in 1826 a neighboring part of the Cháteau Léoville, which was now called Château Léoville-Barton. Today Anthony Barton and his daughter Lilian Barton Sartorius run the wineries. The wines of both estates are produced on Langoa-Barton. In the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, Château Langoa-Barton received third place (Troisième Cru Classé). The 17 hectares of vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (72%), Merlot (20%) and Cabernet Franc (8%). The extremely long-lasting red wine is aged for 24 months in 50% new oak barrels.
