The Chionetti family has linked its history to vines since the 19th century. The turning point came in 1912 when Giuseppe Chionetti bought the farmstead at San Luigi, an area particularly suited to vineyards, in the commune of Dogliani. The Pfannenstielhof looks back on a long and eventful history. First mentioned in a document in 1561, the farm has been owned by the Pfeifer family for seven generations since 1816 and is therefore considered a hereditary farm. In Rosignano, Piedmont, it is the foxes that give the signal that it is time to harvest the Barbera: shrewd and attentive, they understand when the grapes have become ripe and steal them. Third Grand Cru Classé in 1855, Château Boyd-Cantenac was founded in 1754  by Jacques Boyd. After few years of the Classification the estate was divided into Boyd-Cantenac and Cantenac-Brown. Its 17 hectares of vineyards are located west of the village of Cantenac in the Margaux appellation. The soil is rocky-gravely and the vines are more than thirty five years old on average and are composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot.
It is one of the Crus still owned and operated by one family.

Hermitage is one of the famous Grand Cru on the Côte du Rhône and the Hermitage Gambert de Loche the best wine of cave de tain. The very elegant Syrah offers dark berry, spicy aromas with strong tannins and is very long-lasting.

The Hermitage Hill was formed in the Ice Age when the Rhône broke through this eastern extension of the Massif Central following a rapid fall in sea level. Despite its small size, the Hermitage is geologically very diverse. In the highest, western part, the soil consists of granite, which weathers into fine clay. The eastern, larger part of the slope, on the other hand, is formed in the middle by rubble made of sand and limestone that the Rhône had transported from the Alps. At the foot of the slope there are younger sediments from the Würme Ice Age. The highest points are again covered with loess. To protect the thin layers of soil from slipping, walls made of limestone were built.
