Germany is the world's third largest producer of Pinot Noir. As the name implies, it ripens late (spät) and it was brought to Germany from Burgundy. Called Pinot Noir in France, this grape produces elegant, velvety wines with a distinctive bouquet reminiscent of bitter almonds or blackberries. Weingut Höfling is a family-owned winery in Eußenheim situated to the Northwest of Würzburg. Almost all of their vineyards are present on slopes and hilly terrain, and most of all of the work in the vineyards is by hands.  The people in the winery work very hard and with a commitment to produce unique Franconian wines that show the qualities of the region. So they uses domestic wood and hometown barrels and like the most prized Franken wines were traditionally bottled in a Bocksbeutel, a squat green or brown flagon with a round body, is by Höfling too.

A straightforward red wine with distinctive fruit. The Maggio winery operates organically according to Demeter guidelines and, in addition to wine, also produces fruit, grains, and vegetables. The orange trees and narrow wheat fields at the edge of the vineyards also serve to shield the vines from neighboring, conventionally cultivated vineyards. The Hacienda López de Haro is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta, near the historic town of San Vincente de la Sonsierra, one of the places with the longest wine-growing tradition. The region offers the best conditions for the Tempranillo grape variety. The vineyards are protected in the north by the Toloño Mountains, the climate in the south is positively influenced by the Ebro River. The Bodegas has 5000 barriques in which the red wines acquire elegance and softness.

The northern Spanish wine-growing region of La Rioja stretches along the Ebro River. The vineyards are cultivated on calcareous and clayey soils. The red wines from Rioja are traditionally always a cuvée, i.e. a blend of different grape varieties. The most important is Tempranillo, followed by Garnacha Tinta (fr. Grenache Noir), Mazuelo (fr. Carignan) and Graciano.

y tu de quien eres ? - and who are you ? The question about the Spanish red wine project is justified because the wine comes from a so-called mixed batch. This is how wine was produced almost everywhere: in the vineyard the most diverse grape varieties were mixed next to each other - sometimes unrecognized. The different ripening behavior of the grape varieties helped to compensate for the different weather conditions from year to year. Nowadays, winemakers are experimenting with the mixed batch again and are making lively, fascinating wines.

Red wine from Anjou on the Loire is characterized by the Cabernet Franc grape variety, here supplemented by 10% Grolleau (Grolleau gives acidity = freshness, spiciness and cocoa notes). The ground is a deep gravel plateau interspersed with layers of slate. The highly rated Château Soucherie winery was once the castle of the Dukes of Brissac. The vineyards cover 28 hectares.

A Ripasso is, in a sense, a small Amarone. Through a second maceration from the Amarone pressing, it takes on the complex, intense fruit and spice aromas of an Amarone.

The Recioto or Amarone is produced in the Valpolicella wine region using a special process. After the harvest, the best grapes are dried on wooden grids for two to four months. This creates extraordinarily concentrated, intense wines that finely balance sweetness and bitterness in their best representatives. The term Amarone usually refers to the dry version of Recioto. The Sartori winery was founded in Valpollicella in 1898.

A typical Nebbiolo from the Roero growing region - powerful, fragrant, without wood aging. Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards with 9 hectares of vineyards. Typical for Roero is the sandy soil with clay and limestone parts. The wines from here are more aromatic and robust than their relatives from the Barolo region.

"TINAZZI", in ancient Veronese tradition, were barrel-like receptacles in which the pressed grapes were placed to ferment. 
The family’s close links to wine even gave origin to their name. Lattanzio is the wine of Salento, made with the grapes of Negroamaro, 
with 15% alcohol is excellent with roast or grilled red meat and mature cheese. Negroamaro is a wine characterised by persistent fruity notes like prunes and marasca cherries, combined with good acidity and velvety hints of tannins. A long and persistent finale

From Pettineo’s vineyards, all along, come magnif cent grapes Nero d’Avola. The best grapes are carefully selected one by one with our hands. The extraordinary result of our hard work is a wine which is red cherry coloured and characterised also by some purple nuances and scents of red berry fruits. It’s a wine with a full bodied and soft taste with a long and persistent aftertaste. The vinification is 15 days maceration with marcs and fermentation at controlled temperature.  Ageing is 6 months in barrique and 3/6 months in bottle.

As the red wine of the line without sulphites we chose Teroldego: not only because it is the most important wine of the tradition of Trentino, but also for the characteristics of this variety, being it rich in anthocyanin, natural antioxidants. Thanks to its soft tannins it is perfect for a vinification and ripening only in steel, which enhances the fragrance of wild berries, strawberry and sour cherry, and a fresh and immediate drink.

WINE WITHOUT SULPHITES ADDED.

The Valenti winery is relatively young. It was only founded in 2004 and newly planted on almost 30 hectares. The soils are among the best on Mount Etna and in Sicily in general - Passopisciaro in the municipality of Castiglione di Sizilia. Etna Rosso is a DOC for dry red wines in the Italian region (island) Sicily. Sicily is considered the cradle of Italian viticulture in general. Many of today's autochthonous grapes descend from the ancient grape varieties cultivated at the time. Sicilian wines are mainly based on two of these traditional grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese at Etna Rosso and Nero d'Avola. The Etna wines are reminiscent of Pinot Noir or even more of German Pinot Noir - mineral, with fresh cherry fruit and careful aging in wood.
In the "Storia die Vini d'Italia" (History of the Wines of Italy), published in 1596, wines from here are mentioned and their exceptional quality attributed to the fly ash blown in from Mount Etna.
The grape varieties used are 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio.

The Monferrato zone lays claim to being Barbera's birthplace, and records of it growing there as far back as the 13th century. But the hills around Alba and Monforte d'Alba have proved they are capable of growing some particularly fine Barbera, as are parts of the Asti province. Century-old vines still exist in many regional vineyards and allow for the production of long-aging, robust red wines with intense fruit and enhanced tannic content. The best known appellation is the DOCG(Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) Barbera D'Asti in the Piedmont region.

Vernatsch - Schiava in Italian - is the red grape variety of South Tyrol. If it is grown ambitiously and with reduced yields, as is the case with Peter Zemmer, the light-footed cherry fruitiness and the violet scent result in a fine elegance and structure. The wine can be drunk slightly chilled.

The Zemmer winery was founded in 1928 and is now family-run in the third generation. The vineyards have an altitude difference of 800 m and loose, well-aerated soils made of dolomite and limestone with glacial deposits of gravel, gravel, sand and clay.

Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the DOCG wine of the Vittoria wine region in Sicily and, for me, is one of the most elegant wines of southern Italy. Classically, Frappato contributes freshness, fruitiness and acidity to Ceraluolo di Vittoria in combination with the full-bodied Nero d'Avola. The typical grape variety distribution is 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato.

The Nero d'Avola from Donnafugata is characterized by its spicy notes - lavender, sage, black pepper, the typical red fruits (cherry, raspberry) and softness of juniper.

The red grape variety Nero d’Avola is cultivated almost exclusively on the island of Sicily. With over 14,000 hectares of vineyards, it is the most common red wine variety there. The “Black Uva from Avola” is named after the small town in the southeast of the island in the province of Siracusa. From there the grape spread to almost the entire island. The high-quality variety has thin-skinned, small and intensely purple berries that ripen late.

A smooth wine made from 92% Tempranillo and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 12 months in barriques. The Ribera del Duero wine region has ancient roots, but for a long time was famous for a single, dominant wine – Vega Sicilia Unico. It wasn't until the 1980s that the level of wine production along the Duero River began to rise more broadly. With Tinto Pesquera and Pingus, modern, powerful red wines emerged.

Rare pure Frappato. The red grape variety is typical of the Vittoria wine region in Sicily. Classically, Frappato contributes freshness, fruitiness and acidity to the Ceraluolo di Vittoria in combination with the full-bodied Nero d'Avola. As a stand-alone red wine, a Frappato offers a fine elegance. The perfection of Donnafugata wines impresses with their aromatic bouquet - violet scent, rose petals, lavender and citrus fruits.

Les Gimarets is a small vineyard plot with vines over 50 years old. Moulin a Vent is the most interesting Beaujolais cru site. The Gamay grape variety, grown on the slate and limestone granite soils, produces smooth, spicy red wines with ageing potential.

The Rosso di Montalcino from Poggio alle Mura is one of the very good small Brunellos of the wine region. 100% Sangiovese from the carefully researched and selected grape variety variations at Banfi - there are a total of about 600 Sangiovese clones with very specific characteristics.

Fine Priorat from flagship winemaker Marco Abella with typical 55% Garnacha and 35% Carinyena, 10% Cabenet Sauvignon. Accessible with aromas of red berry fruits and spices.

Priorat is an ancient Spanish wine region that fell into oblivion with the phylloxera epidemic in the 19th century and was only rediscovered by young winemakers in the 1980s and became a cult. Typical are the cuvées of Granacha and Carinyena. Both grape varieties tolerate the mild, rather dry climate excellently and are characterised in their aroma by the dark slate soil of the Priorat.

High-class Barbera - dense, warming fruit, chocolate and spices. Paolo Manzone and his wife Lusiella only decided to continue the family winery in 1999 and have relied on rigorous quality ever since. The winery cultivates 14 hectares of excellent vineyards in the vicinity of renowned winemakers such as Vietti.

Nebbiolo is a red Italian wine grape variety predominantly associated with the Piedmont region where it makes the wines of Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Gattinara. Nebbiolo is thought to derive its name from the Italian word nebbia which means fog. Nebbiolo does not adapt exceptionally well to various vineyard soil types, preferring soils with high concentration of calcareous marl such as those found on the right bank of the Tanaro river around Alba where the finest Barolo and Barbaresco are produced.

Château Lanessan is a Bordeaux wine estate in the Haut-Médoc appellation. It describes itself as Grand Cru Hors Classé and this refers to the fact that one of the previous owners felt it unnecessary to submit samples for the 1855 Classification and consequently ist traditional ranking as a 4ème Cru Classé was never ratified. Lanessan is located just to the south of Gruaud-Larose in the commune of Cussac-Fort-Médoc and has 40 hectares of vineyards.

The wines from Saint Joseph are a touch more elegant, cooler, appear more mineral with more floral notes of violet, mint, cherry and blackberry. Cave de Tain is one of the typical cooperatives in the wine region. It was founded in 1933 largely by Louis Gambert de Loche, who also forms the heart of Cave de Tain with his first-class vineyard plots.

The Saint-Joseph wine region in the northern part of the Rhône Valley is relatively little known. Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie are too much in the foreground. It was not until 1956 that Saint-Joseph and its six parishes became their own appellation. Viticulture along the 60 km of steep slopes along the Rhône goes back to Roman times. Mauves wine was famous. The French King Louis XII owned his own vineyard in Saint-Joseph.

The hilltops of Sancerre vineyards spread through 14 villages. The two grape varieties  in Sancerre are the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir. They have gained the AOC status in 1936. The red and rosé wines, made from the noble Pinot Noir, followed in 1959 when they were awarded the AOC accreditation.

The red wines illustrate the virtues of Pinot Noir. They offer a bouquets of cherry and morellos. 

In the 12th century, cultivation of vines was given added impetus through the combined efforts of the Augustine monks in St-Satur and the ruling counts of Sancerre. At that time Sancerre was famous for its red wine, produced predominantly from the Pinot Noir grape, and exported from the region along the Loire. This wine is often mentioned in accounts of life at the royal court. The famous wine of Sancerre was, in the opinion of Duke Jean de Berry, indeed the finest wine to be found in the entire kingdom.

Present fruit with fine tannins from the 1er Grand Cru winery Château Belair Monange. The grapes from the young vines flow into the wine, which is classified as Grand Cru Saint Emilion.

Château Belair is a 1er Grand Cru Classé and neighbor of Château Ausone. It has an extraordinary history: since the 15th century, Belair was owned by the influential Canolles family, which even survived the expropriations of the French Revolution. In the 19th century it was one of the most sought-after wineries of all. Then a change of ownership and the phylloxera disaster destroyed the winery's primacy. Of course, it always remained at the 1er Grand Cru level. In 2008 Belair was bought by the Moueix wine dynasty (Pétrus and many more).

Côtes de Bourg is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) for Bordeaux wine situated around the small town of Bourg-sur-Gironde near Bordeaux, France. The first vineyards in the area were founded by the Romans. In the Middle Ages, Bourg was a major port for wine and the vineyards developed at the same tempo as the estuary traffic. Red Côtes de Bourg are garnet in colour and are predominantly based on the Merlot grape, blended with smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Some Chateaux still use Malbec as part of the blend. The vine has been established in le Bourgeais for centuries and the current varieties have been selected because of their performance in relation to the soil. The Côtes de Bourg are characterized by the diversity and richness of their soils.
Although the Côtes de Bourg is composed of mainly clay and limestone soils, their make-up is so rich that there is a veritable mosaic of sand and gravel in the area around Pugnac. Three types are predominant. Firstly, the Sienna-red Quaternary alluvium that is quite specific to the region and situated more on the heights: Merlot and Malbec are widely cultivated. Merlot and Cabernet are planted on clay and sandy gravel soils while Merlot is also grown on the widespread areas of clay and limestone.

The classical dry red wine comes from the appellation Graves. Graves (from French: gravelly land) is an important subregion of the Bordeaux wine region. Graves is situated on the left bank of the Garonne river, in the upstream part of the region, southeast of the city Bordeaux. The name Graves derives from ist intensely gravelly soil. The soil is the result of glaciers from the Ice Age, which also left white quartz deposits that can still be found in the soil of some of the top winemaking estates. Typical for the left bank wines (Médoc) is the blend of grapes with Cabernet Sauvignon as the predominant grape. The others are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
