Germany is the world's third largest producer of Pinot Noir. As the name implies, it ripens late (spät) and it was brought to Germany from Burgundy. Called Pinot Noir in France, this grape produces elegant, velvety wines with a distinctive bouquet reminiscent of bitter almonds or blackberries. Weingut Höfling is a family-owned winery in Eußenheim situated to the Northwest of Würzburg. Almost all of their vineyards are present on slopes and hilly terrain, and most of all of the work in the vineyards is by hands.  The people in the winery work very hard and with a commitment to produce unique Franconian wines that show the qualities of the region. So they uses domestic wood and hometown barrels and like the most prized Franken wines were traditionally bottled in a Bocksbeutel, a squat green or brown flagon with a round body, is by Höfling too.

The Castello di Banfi winery was founded by two Italian-Americans from New York, Harry and John Mariani, who had become very wealthy by importing Lambrusco. In the mid-1970s, they created a very ambitious wine project based on the highest quality, which quickly gained great recognition.

The different ripening behavior of the grape varieties helped to compensate for the different weather conditions from year to year. Nowadays, winemakers are experimenting with the mixed batch again and are making lively, fascinating wines.

Bodegas Gratias is a unique, fascinating wine project - from the relatively unknown wine region of La Manchuela in the hinterland of Valencia towards La Mancha. What is special about this small region are the rare autochthonous grape varieties such as Bobal (which also forms the backbone of the y tu de quien eres ?) and Tardana. The young families and summer lovers of the Bodegas Gratias have dedicated themselves entirely to the unique wines from these grape varieties - working ambitiously organically and with an excellent feel for aromatic subtleties and precision.

Beautiful Crianza with present fruit, pleasant acidity and well-integrated wood.
The Hacienda López de Haro is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta, near the historic town of San Vincente de la Sonsierra, one of the places with the longest wine-growing tradition. The region offers the best conditions for the Tempranillo grape variety. The vineyards are protected in the north by the Toloño Mountains, the climate in the south is positively influenced by the Ebro River. The Bodegas has 5000 barriques in which the red wines acquire elegance and softness.

The northern Spanish wine-growing region of La Rioja stretches along the Ebro River. The vineyards are cultivated on calcareous and clayey soils. The red wines from Rioja are traditionally always a cuvée, i.e. a blend of different grape varieties. The most important is Tempranillo, followed by Garnacha Tinta (fr. Grenache Noir), Mazuelo (fr. Carignan) and Graciano.

The red wine from the grape variety Sankt Laurent comes from the Seewinkel region in Burgenland, which is characterised by very dry, stony and mineral soils. The region is one of the hottest and driest wine-growing areas in Austria and thus provides ideal conditions for the production of red wines full of character.

Malvasia Nera is the more fruity version of Negroamaro with the best results in Puglia and Tuscany. The Sampietrana winery was founded in 1952 as a cooperative. The vines for Malvasia are more than 50 years old.

The Italian region of Apulia (Puglia) with its capital Bari is located deep in the south on the Adriatic coast. The elongated region consists of the spur (the Gargano Mountains) and the heel (the Salento Peninsula) of the boot. The area is one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the world, as the Phoenicians and Greeks planted vines here 3,000 years ago. The Romans particularly valued the wine from Tarentum (port city of Taranto) and the poet Horace (65-8 BC) described this area as a place of “eternal spring”. In contrast to the other southern regions, there are hardly any mountains, but the landscape consists of plateaus and flatlands. The climate is dry and hot with little rainfall, so artificial irrigation is sometimes necessary. The soils consist primarily of limestone, clay and sandstone. Puglia has the most grape varieties in southern Italy, around 80 percent of which are red.

Today, Susumaniello is almost exclusively found in Apulia, although it originally comes from Croatia. It was almost extinct because of its low yield. In the meantime, however, ambitious winegrowers are again relying on the red grape variety to produce extraordinary wines. The hot, sunny climate of Apulia softens the initially high acidity of the Susumaniello. The wine has a nice fruity spiciness. The resemblance to Sangiovese is noticeable.

Fruity, precise red wine from the Portuguese Douro Valley. The grape varieties of the wine are Touriga Franca (60%), Touriga Nacional (30%) and Tinta Roriz (10%), exclusively the classic autochthonous grape varieties of Portugal. The wine is vinified exclusively in steel tanks.

Cruz’s Fine Tawny is a three-year-old blend aged in small oak casks at our lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia. 

A Ripasso is, in a sense, a small Amarone. Through a second maceration from the Amarone pressing, it takes on the complex, intense fruit and spice aromas of an Amarone.

The Recioto or Amarone is produced in the Valpolicella wine region using a special process. After the harvest, the best grapes are dried on wooden grids for two to four months. This creates extraordinarily concentrated, intense wines that finely balance sweetness and bitterness in their best representatives. The term Amarone usually refers to the dry version of Recioto. The Sartori winery was founded in Valpollicella in 1898.

A typical Nebbiolo from the Roero growing region - powerful, fragrant, without wood aging. Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards with 9 hectares of vineyards. Typical for Roero is the sandy soil with clay and limestone parts. The wines from here are more aromatic and robust than their relatives from the Barolo region.

Côtes du Rhône with incisive fruit (Grenache blueberry and red Syrah fruit) and a hint of black pepper. Domaine de la Solitude is one of the most traditional wineries in the Châteauneuf du Pape region. The oldest wine from La Solitude dates back to 1780 and the estate has been in the family since 400. The classic red wine of the Côtes du Rhône appellation is made from 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mouvedre.

The history of this famous appellation in the southern section of the Rhône is closely linked to the popes. From 1309 to 1377, the city of Avignon was the seat of the popes and from 1378 to 1408 of two counter-popes. One of them was Pope John XXII (1244-1334), born in Cahors, who chose Châteauneuf Castle as his summer residence and gave important impulses to viticulture. The 3,140-hectare area was the first state-recognised appellation in France.

Beautiful, complex Dolcetto - violet, cherry, licorice and at the same time soft and a little chocolaty. Paolo Manzone and his wife Lusiella only decided to continue the family winery in 1999 and have relied on rigorous quality ever since. The winery cultivates 14 hectares of excellent vineyards in the vicinity of renowned winemakers such as Vietti.

As the red wine of the line without sulphites we chose Teroldego: not only because it is the most important wine of the tradition of Trentino, but also for the characteristics of this variety, being it rich in anthocyanin, natural antioxidants. Thanks to its soft tannins it is perfect for a vinification and ripening only in steel, which enhances the fragrance of wild berries, strawberry and sour cherry, and a fresh and immediate drink.

WINE WITHOUT SULPHITES ADDED.

The Valenti winery is relatively young. It was only founded in 2004 and newly planted on almost 30 hectares. The soils are among the best on Mount Etna and in Sicily in general - Passopisciaro in the municipality of Castiglione di Sizilia. Etna Rosso is a DOC for dry red wines in the Italian region (island) Sicily. Sicily is considered the cradle of Italian viticulture in general. Many of today's autochthonous grapes descend from the ancient grape varieties cultivated at the time. Sicilian wines are mainly based on two of these traditional grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese at Etna Rosso and Nero d'Avola. The Etna wines are reminiscent of Pinot Noir or even more of German Pinot Noir - mineral, with fresh cherry fruit and careful aging in wood.
In the "Storia die Vini d'Italia" (History of the Wines of Italy), published in 1596, wines from here are mentioned and their exceptional quality attributed to the fly ash blown in from Mount Etna.
The grape varieties used are 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio.

Vernatsch - Schiava in Italian - is the red grape variety of South Tyrol. If it is grown ambitiously and with reduced yields, as is the case with Peter Zemmer, the light-footed cherry fruitiness and the violet scent result in a fine elegance and structure. The wine can be drunk slightly chilled.

The Zemmer winery was founded in 1928 and is now family-run in the third generation. The vineyards have an altitude difference of 800 m and loose, well-aerated soils made of dolomite and limestone with glacial deposits of gravel, gravel, sand and clay.

Pinot-Noir. Später-Veit is one of Piesport’s oldest winegrowing families. The vineyard has 7 hectares in and around the famous village of Piesport in the Mosel. 

The Monferrato zone lays claim to being Barbera's birthplace, and records of it growing there as far back as the 13th century. But the hills around Alba and Monforte d'Alba have proved they are capable of growing some particularly fine Barbera, as are parts of the Asti province. Century-old vines still exist in many regional vineyards and allow for the production of long-aging, robust red wines with intense fruit and enhanced tannic content. The best known appellation is the DOCG(Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) Barbera D'Asti in the Piedmont region.

Best Primitivo of the Sampietrana wine cooperative. The red grape variety Primitivo is mainly cultivated in the southern Italian region of Apulia. It probably comes from Croatia/Dalmatia and was given its name in the 17th century by Benedictine monks due to its early maturity (Latin primativus = first-mover). From there it probably found its way to Italy and also to Germany via Austria under the name Blauer Scheuchner. Since it was first detected near the mountain town of Gioia, it is also called Primitivo di Gioia. It produces deep, dark, spicy and high-alcohol red wines and is often used as a blending partner for late-ripening varieties. According to Dr. According to DNA analyzes carried out by Carole Meredith in 2001 at the University of California in collaboration with Croatian grape specialists, the Primitivo is identical to the Californian Zinfandel.

Castello di Ama is located about 12 miles northeast of Siena in the hills of Gaiole in the heart of Chianti Classico. Ama is a modern estate comprising 500 acres of land, 200 of which are vineyards. These vineyards are divided into five important parcels; San Lorenzo, Bellavista, La Casuccia, Bertinga and Montebuoni.
Vintage 2010 heralded the introduction of Gran Selezione and the release of the new Chianti Classico, “Ama”. Ama is a blend made entirely almost with the grapes of the new clones of Sangiovese, according to our experience and the most modern technique of quality viticulture. These are planted and grown with a density of 5,200 vines per hectare in our four estate vineyards: Bellavista, Casuccia, San Lorenzo and Montebuoni, with an average age inferior to 8/10 years.

The hilltops of Sancerre vineyards spread through 14 villages. The two grape varieties  in Sancerre are the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir. They have gained the AOC status in 1936. The red and rosé wines, made from the noble Pinot Noir, followed in 1959 when they were awarded the AOC accreditation.

The red wines illustrate the virtues of Pinot Noir. They offer a bouquets of cherry and morellos. 

In the 12th century, cultivation of vines was given added impetus through the combined efforts of the Augustine monks in St-Satur and the ruling counts of Sancerre. At that time Sancerre was famous for its red wine, produced predominantly from the Pinot Noir grape, and exported from the region along the Loire. This wine is often mentioned in accounts of life at the royal court. The famous wine of Sancerre was, in the opinion of Duke Jean de Berry, indeed the finest wine to be found in the entire kingdom.

Georgian wines are among the oldest in the world. Saperavi is the most important autochthonous grape variety from Georgia, Ukraine, Moldavia and Romania and produces spicy, medium-heavy wines with sophisticated wines. It is traditionally not only dry, but also semi-dry to sweet.

Fine Priorat from flagship winemaker Marco Abella with typical 55% Garnacha and 35% Carinyena, 10% Cabenet Sauvignon. Accessible with aromas of red berry fruits and spices.

Priorat is an ancient Spanish wine region that fell into oblivion with the phylloxera epidemic in the 19th century and was only rediscovered by young winemakers in the 1980s and became a cult. Typical are the cuvées of Granacha and Carinyena. Both grape varieties tolerate the mild, rather dry climate excellently and are characterised in their aroma by the dark slate soil of the Priorat.

Pure, well-structured Croze Hermitage. The Syrah grape variety delivers peppery notes, aromas of blackberries and herbs. Cave de Tain is one of the typical cooperatives in the wine region. It was founded in 1933 largely by Louis Gambert de Loche, who also forms the heart of Cave de Tain with his first-class vineyard plots.

The Crozes-Hermitages appellation in the northern section of the Rhône is classified as a cru location. It is located in the southern part of the section on the left bank of the Rhône. The red wines are made from Syrah and a maximum of 15% Marsanne or Roussane, the white wines from Marsanne and Roussanne. A well-known lover of the wines was the locally famous bandit Mandrin.

Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the DOCG wine of the Vittoria wine region in Sicily and, for me, is one of the most elegant wines of southern Italy. Classically, Frappato contributes freshness, fruitiness and acidity to Ceraluolo di Vittoria in combination with the full-bodied Nero d'Avola. The typical grape variety distribution is 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato.

A captivating Supertuscan that combines the four red varieties selected in the history of Banfi come the best for our vineyards in Montalcino. The mild winter and the summer characterized by excellent temperature excursions between day and night, favored the excellent ripeness and quality of the grapes. Thanks to these conditions the wines are balanced and complex. The result is an austere and intriguing wine, with distinctly fruity and spicy fragrances. The aromas of licorice and pepper are accompanied by a slight hint of leather. In the mouth it is balanced, with sweet tannins and persistent hints

At Maximas, the red indigenous Bobal grape variety is aged in barriques. The wine is dense, intense, fine herbal aromas, green peppers, a little salt. The soils for Bobal are a limestone-iron-clay mixture.

Bodegas Gratias is a unique, fascinating wine project - from the relatively unknown wine region of La Manchuela in the hinterland of Valencia towards La Mancha. What is special about this small region are the rare autochthonous grape varieties such as Bobal (which also forms the backbone of the y tu de quien eres ?) and Tardana. Château Lanessan is a Bordeaux wine estate in the Haut-Médoc appellation. It describes itself as Grand Cru Hors Classé and this refers to the fact that one of the previous owners felt it unnecessary to submit samples for the 1855 Classification and consequently ist traditional ranking as a 4ème Cru Classé was never ratified. Lanessan is located just to the south of Gruaud-Larose in the commune of Cussac-Fort-Médoc and has 40 hectares of vineyards.
