The Marsala wine comes from the western lands of Sicily and its name derives from the homonymous town. The Marsala is the oldest Italian DOC wine, with an average alcohol content of about 18 degrees.The Marsala wine owes its birth to a storm which in 1773 forced John Woodhouse, a rich and famous merchant of Liverpool, to land with his ship in the port of Marsala instead of Mazara del Vallo, where he was going to close a deal. When he landed in this Sicilian town, Woodhouse went into a tavern in the port, where he tasted the ‘Perpetum’, a strong local wine similar to Madeira or Porto, which were so appreciated by English people. So he decided to buy a large supply of that wine, which he wanted to sell in England.  Woodhouse added an amount of alcohol to those barrels of wine, so increasing the alcohol content of that wine and ensuring its preservation up to its destination. The first expedition was an incredible success. All the barrels were sold in a few days and this convinced Woodhouse to return permanently to Sicily in order to develop a new and stable business.

German most famous and oldest viticulture is the „Steilhange“, steep slopes along the Mosella river. No wonder that Weingut Milz can praise such a long winemaking tradition and history. Since 1520, the Milz family has been known as great winemakers in Trittenheim, a wine village in the well-known Moselschleife. Parts of the original 1680 wine cellar are today still visible. Milz’s wines are quite classic Riesling from the Mosel, since they present the ideal alcohol level, delicatesugar residue and an extremely long finish. In 1900, these wines used to be the most expensive in any European restaurant’s menu, even more high-priced than the best Burgundies and Bordeaux wines.

The Apotheke vineyard is located in front of Trittenheim on the right bank of the Mosella. This region is famous for his 40%-60% incline. Soil is rocky and made up of green-blue Devon – altered slate that during the day stores the sun heat on the west-southern slopes and at night gives it back to the vine. This phenomenon allows the growing Riesling to properly ripen. The vineyard is located at 150-200 metres above sea level and stretches across 72 hectares.

The peculiar name „Apotheke“ was not chosen because of a special healing effect of these wines, as you could guess, but it results form the alteration of the name „Abteiberg“: the hill were the old Trier Abbey was locarted. Until 1909 winemakers had to use a ferry to reach their vineyards. In the core area of the region the original docking pier still survives.

The strange name of the Wasseros vineyard plot refers to spring areas that emerge from the ground in many places. The Faugères appellation is located 25 km north of Béziers and nestles on the first foothills of the Black Mountain between the valley of the Orb and the plain of Béziers. German most famous and oldest viticulture is the „Steilhange“, steep slopes along the Mosella river. No wonder that Weingut Milz can praise such a long winemaking tradition and history. Since 1520, the Milz family has been known as great winemakers in Trittenheim, a wine village in the well-known Moselschleife. Parts of the original 1680 wine cellar are today still visible. Milz’s wines are quite classic Riesling from the Mosel, since they present the ideal alcohol level, delicatesugar residue and an extremely long finish. In 1900, these wines used to be the most expensive in any European restaurant’s menu, even more high-priced than the best Burgundies and Bordeaux wines.

The Leiterchen is a single part of the Trittenheimer Apotheke vineyard is located in front of Trittenheim on the right bank of the Mosella. This region is famous for his 40%-60% incline. Soil is rocky and made up of green-blue Devon – altered slate that during the day stores the sun heat on the west-southern slopes and at night gives it back to the vine. This phenomenon allows the growing Riesling to properly ripen. The vineyard is located at 150-200 metres above sea level and stretches across 72 hectares.

The Listrac-Médoc appellation is situated in the north-west of the Gironde County. This area, baptised The Roof of the Médoc, reaches a height of 43 metres above sea level.
Château Clarke dates back to the 12th century, when Cistercian monks at the Vertheuil Abbey in Listrac planted the first grapevines. In the year 1771 the Irish knight Tobie Clarke bought the vineyards with 230 hectares. Baron Edmond de Rothschild acquired two properties in 1973: Château Malmaison in Moulis and the adjoining Château Clarke with 53 hectares of vineyards.
The grapevines are planted on clay-limestone hilltops that encourage the expression of the Merlot grape that largely dominates the vine mix (a rare feature in the Médoc district).

The classic red wine comes from the Premieres Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The Bordeaux growing region extends over around two thirds of the Gironde department (no wine is grown except in the south and towards the sea) with an area of ​​105 by 130 kilometers and a vineyard area of ​​113,000 hectares. The climate, characterized by the nearby Atlantic and the many rivers, is extremely favorable for viticulture. Summer is not too dry or hot, autumn is sunny and winter is mild. The predominantly barren and stony gravel soil means that the roots of the vines have to dig up to ten meters deep into the ground to find water. This makes it easier to survive both dry periods and rainy periods (drainage promoted by gravel soil). The stony ground also serves as a heat reservoir.

Each château (winery) has its own recipe for blending grape varieties and vinification, which is carefully guarded.
