The Marsala wine comes from the western lands of Sicily and its name derives from the homonymous town. The Marsala is the oldest Italian DOC wine, with an average alcohol content of about 18 degrees.The Marsala wine owes its birth to a storm which in 1773 forced John Woodhouse, a rich and famous merchant of Liverpool, to land with his ship in the port of Marsala instead of Mazara del Vallo, where he was going to close a deal. When he landed in this Sicilian town, Woodhouse went into a tavern in the port, where he tasted the ‘Perpetum’, a strong local wine similar to Madeira or Porto, which were so appreciated by English people. So he decided to buy a large supply of that wine, which he wanted to sell in England.  Woodhouse added an amount of alcohol to those barrels of wine, so increasing the alcohol content of that wine and ensuring its preservation up to its destination. The first expedition was an incredible success. All the barrels were sold in a few days and this convinced Woodhouse to return permanently to Sicily in order to develop a new and stable business.

The very complex geology of the Saint-Chinian chain is present on the estate, where a mosaic of different terroirs can be found. The strange name of the Wasseros vineyard plot refers to spring areas that emerge from the ground in many places. Such places were referred to as water horses in old cadastral locations as early as 1610 and gave this area in Kiedrich its name. The vines in this first Lage (1er Cru) in the VdP grow on shallow and stony soils that are permeated with loess and loess loam. The Faugères appellation is located 25 km north of Béziers and nestles on the first foothills of the Black Mountain between the valley of the Orb and the plain of Béziers. The vineyards are situated at an average altitude of about 250 m above sea level on steep slopes of the Montagne Noire, which is geologically an extension of the Cévennes in a broader sense. German most famous and oldest viticulture is the „Steilhange“, steep slopes along the Mosella river. No wonder that Weingut Milz can praise such a long winemaking tradition and history. Since 1520, the Milz family has been known as great winemakers in Trittenheim, a wine village in the well-known Moselschleife. Parts of the original 1680 wine cellar are today still visible. Milz’s wines are quite classic Riesling from the Mosel, since they present the ideal alcohol level, delicatesugar residue and an extremely long finish. In 1900, these wines used to be the most expensive in any European restaurant’s menu, even more high-priced than the best Burgundies and Bordeaux wines.

The Apotheke vineyard is located in front of Trittenheim on the right bank of the Mosella. This region is famous for his 40%-60% incline. Soil is rocky and made up of green-blue Devon – altered slate that during the day stores the sun heat on the west-southern slopes and at night gives it back to the vine. This phenomenon allows the growing Riesling to properly ripen. The vineyard is located at 150-200 metres above sea level and stretches across 72 hectares.

The peculiar name „Apotheke“ was not chosen because of a special healing effect of these wines, as you could guess, but it results form the alteration of the name „Abteiberg“: the hill were the old Trier Abbey was locarted. Until 1909 winemakers had to use a ferry to reach their vineyards. In the core area of the region the original docking pier still survives.

The red Freisa grape variety is a fine speciality of the Italian region of Piedmont, where it covers around 2,000 hectares. It has been recognised here since 1799. The grape produces light purple-red, acidic and tannin-rich red wines. It is assumed that the Freisa is identical to the Barbesino variety. The French wine-growing region of Juliénas is one of the ten crus of Beaujolais. The area was granted the status of an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC for short) on 11 March 1938. The 609 hectares of vineyards are located in the communes of Emeringes, Juliénas and Jullié in the Département Rhône and Pruzilly in the Département Saône-et-Loire. Here, red wines are produced from the Gamay grape variety, which are quite robust. The wines are made with the traditional carbonic acid mixture. Franschhoek is located in the South African province of Western Cape. The name of the village means "French Angle" and refers to its foundation in 1688, when several hundred emigrated Huguenots from France settled in the small village. Some of them were winegrowers who quickly recognised the potential of the terroir and used it for winegrowing. In 1694, the French Huguenot Pierre Jourdan was given a farm, which he then christened Cabriere, named after his hometown in the south of France. In 1982, the estate was bought by Achim von Arnim.
The Franschhoek Valley is surrounded by mountains on three sides and receives late morning and long evening sun. This favours slow and balanced ripening, resulting in fruit-driven flavour profiles. The above-average rainfall and cooler temperatures compared to neighbouring regions contribute to the minerality of the flavour profiles.

The vineyard name Doosberg comes from Dachsberg. The Rheingau vineyards have humus-rich loess soils with clayey loess loam and good water storage, and is oriented to the south and south-west with a 30° slope. The Chablis wine region is the northernmost wine region in the Burgundy region. The name was particularly well known in the 1970s and 1980s and was considered a synonym for a dry white wine at that time.  In 1844 Luciano Francisco Ramòn de Murrieta, returned to his home near Logrono in Rioja from England, where he  developed an appreciation for wine, recognized that there was nothing wrong with the grapes growing in Rioja's vineyards. The Chionetti family has linked its history to vines since the 19th century. The turning point came in 1912 when Giuseppe Chionetti bought the farmstead at San Luigi, an area particularly suited to vineyards, in the commune of Dogliani. From this moment on, the Chionetti family linked its name to that of Dolcetto. Indeed, Dogliani represents one of the most important dolcetto territories in terms of history and quality. Dolcetto possesses thirteen Denominations in Piedmont and, among these, Dolcetto d’Alba is the best known. Dolcetto region can be divided roughly into two wide strips: one stretching towards Barolo and the other running from Alba towards the Belbo Valley, where a particular terroir produces very fine and light Dolcettos. The Corbières wine-growing region is located on the mountain range of the same name on the edge of the Pyrenees. To the south is the Roussillon appellation. The Pfannenstielhof looks back on a long and eventful history. First mentioned in a document in 1561, the farm has been owned by the Pfeifer family for seven generations since 1816 and is therefore considered a hereditary farm. Müller-Thurgau is a grape variety obtained from a cross between Rhine Riesling and Green Silvaner by Prof. Hermann Müller of Thurgau. The scholar, who was director of the plant physiology section at the Geisenheim Institute in Germany in 1876, returned to Switzerland, to Wadenswill, in 1891, again as director of a fruit research institute, where he completed his research on this vine. The name of the Barbera Volpuva is linked to an anecdote. In Rosignano, Piedmont, it is the foxes that give the signal that it is time to harvest the Barbera: shrewd and attentive, they understand when the grapes have become ripe and steal them. Hence the name that links the fox to the grape. The Monferrato zone lays claim to being Barbera's birthplace, and records of it growing there as far back as the 13th century. This very high-yielding vine produces wines that are high in acidity and rather low in tannins.
