Côtes de Bourg is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) for Bordeaux wine situated around the small town of Bourg-sur-Gironde near Bordeaux, France. The first vineyards in the area were founded by the Romans. In the Middle Ages, Bourg was a major port for wine and the vineyards developed at the same tempo as the estuary traffic. Red Côtes de Bourg are garnet in colour and are predominantly based on the Merlot grape, blended with smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Some Chateaux still use Malbec as part of the blend. The vine has been established in le Bourgeais for centuries and the current varieties have been selected because of their performance in relation to the soil. The Côtes de Bourg are characterized by the diversity and richness of their soils.
Although the Côtes de Bourg is composed of mainly clay and limestone soils, their make-up is so rich that there is a veritable mosaic of sand and gravel in the area around Pugnac. Three types are predominant. Firstly, the Sienna-red Quaternary alluvium that is quite specific to the region and situated more on the heights: Merlot and Malbec are widely cultivated. Merlot and Cabernet are planted on clay and sandy gravel soils while Merlot is also grown on the widespread areas of clay and limestone.

Château de Callac is a classic fine Graves based on 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. Graves in the Bordeaux region is an ancient wine-growing area. The Romans planted vineyards here as early as the 1st century. The wines from Graves established the fame of today's Bordeaux. The name Graves first appeared in the Middle Ages and is derived from the gravelly soil (terre graveleuse). The pebbles are collected and placed next to the vines. They store the heat of the sun during the day and release the heat to the grapes late into the night. This heat promotes the ripening process in a natural way and increases the sugar content of the grapes. A Rotspon (Red = red wine, Spon-Span = from a wooden barrel) is a typical bottling from a Hanseatic city. Since the Middle Ages, the Hanseatic cities had the right to import wines from France in barrels, to mature them themselves and finally to bottle them for sale.

At the time, the estate went under the name of Corbin Michotte. They changed their name and today, the Bordeaux wine producer is known as Chateau Croque Michotte.

Château de Chelivette has existed since the 16th century near the communes of Ste Eulalie and St Loubes and has 29 hectares of prime hillside vineyards.
