Recognition of DOCG status came in 1980. 1973 is indeed an important date in the history of Château de Rochemorin. Chateau Beaumont takes its name from a former manager of Chateau Latour and was established in 1824. The Chateau was built 30 years later in place of a former manor. The rare grape variety Jubiläumstraube is a new variety from Dr. Fritz Zweigelt from 1922. The grape variety was crossed from Grauer Portugieser and Frühroter Veltliner. The very old vineyard Geisenheimer Kläuserweg was mentioned in documents as early as 1292 as “via Clusen” and in 1300 as “Cluserweg”. The vineyard area borders the Rothenberg and the Johannisberg to the east and faces south, partly as a steep slope. The soil consists primarily of loess clay and marl, but there is also deep, highly calcareous clay, sand and gravel. The Pomerol appellation, named after the commune of the same name, with 800 hectares of vineyards, is located on the right bank (rive droite) of the Gironde in the Bordeaux region and, together with St.Emilion and the lesser known Fronsac, forms the counterpart to the Medoc (rive gauche). Its neighbours are the Lalande de Pomerol appellation to the north and Saint-Émilion to the east. Pomerol used to be considered an inferior sub-appellation (astonishing from today's perspective). Today, the special soil in Pomerol is responsible for the top rank of the red wines that can be stored for a long time and mature for more than two years in often 100% new oak barrels. It is a sandy-gravelly soil with intermediate layers of clay and a sub-layer of iron-rich ironstone, known as crasse de fer (iron slag) or machefer. As in neighbouring Fronsac to the west, there is surprisingly no cru classification in Pomerol, but a group of estates are recognised as elite and, mutatis mutandis, premier crus.

Château Camensac borders on the Saint-Julien appellation, in the commune of Saint-Laurent-de-Médoc, surrounded by other excellent classed growths such as La Tour Carnet and Belgrave. Camensac means on the water's way, and comes from the words "camens", which means path or way and "ac", which means water in local dialect. In 1965 it was bought by the Forner brothers, who also own the well-known Marques de Carceres bodega in Rioja. The two brothers replanted most of the 85 hectares of vineyards, the balance now being 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot. They also renovated the cuverie and the cellars and hired the renowned Bordeaux oenologist Emile Peynaud as a consultant. he Merlaut family acquired Camensac in time for the 2005 vintage. Céline Villars-Loubet who owns Chasse-Spleen and her husband, Jean-Pierre Foubet are now in charge of the estate.

Nebbiolo is a red Italian wine grape variety predominantly associated with the Piedmont region where it makes the wines of Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Gattinara. Nebbiolo is thought to derive its name from the Italian word nebbia which means fog. At the time of the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855, the winery in the commune Saint-Laurent-Médoc was called Château Coutenceau. The "Bellegrave" designation appeared, when Bruno Devès, a negociant in Bordeaux, remodelled the estate, favoring wine growing on gravel terroirs.
