Chateau Troplong Mondot was in the 17th century the property of Abbé Raymond de Sèze. It was de Seze, who created in 1745 the chateau that remains at Troplong Mondot today. In 1850, Raymond Troplong became the owner of this Right Bank estate.
Troplong Mondot occupies great terroir. The 33 hectare vineyard lies on the slopes, at an elevation over 100 meters that allows views of the entire St. Emilion village. The soil consists of deep limestone deposits under layers of thick clay. There are also sedimentary fragments of flint and limestone.  In 2006 Chateau Troplong Mondot was awarded their well deserved promotion to Premier Grand Cru Classé B status, which was upheld in the recent 2012 St. Emilion classification. Due to their unique, cooler terroir, with large deposits of clay, Troplong Mondot is often one of the last, St. Emilion vineyards to be harvested.

German most famous and oldest viticulture is the „Steilhange“, steep slopes along the Mosella river. 

The Apotheke vineyard is located in front of Trittenheim on the right bank of the Mosella. This region is famous for his 40%-60% incline. Soil is rocky and made up of green-blue Devon – altered slate that during the day stores the sun heat on the west-southern slopes and at night gives it back to the vine. This phenomenon allows the growing Riesling to properly ripen. The vineyard is located at 150-200 metres above sea level and stretches across 72 hectares.

The peculiar name „Apotheke“ was not chosen because of a special healing effect of these wines, as you could guess, but it results form the alteration of the name „Abteiberg“: the hill were the old Trier Abbey was locarted. Until 1909 winemakers had to use a ferry to reach their vineyards. In the core area of the region the original docking pier still survives.

The Rausan-Ségla vineyard extends over 52 hectares at the gates of the village of Margaux: excellent exposure; a terroir of fine, deep gravel and clay; a typically Margaux grape variety (54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc) It all began in 1658.
