1. Lage - Rheingau

Very old, perfectly preserved wines from the Rheingau vineyards can often be found. The reason is simple - in the 80s, a stock of these wines was re-corked and labeled according to the historical model for the first time. This means that authentic Rieslings from the top vintage of 1937 can still be tasted today. You have to accept the small flaw that the labels and corks are only 40 years old and not almost 90 years old. The Erbacher Steinmorgen site gets its name from its size - a site that could be worked on in one morning. The soil consists of deep loess and loess clay with stony gravel deposits. A document from 1211 mentions “an demo steinmorgen” for the first time.

Very well preserved Pommard from the legendary 1er Cru location Les Grands Epenots. The wine comes from the collection of Docteur Barolet. The Pommard appellation, named after the municipality of the same name, with 313 hectares of vineyards is located in the Côte de Beaune part of the Burgundian Côte d'Or. It connects to the municipality of Volnay. The Cistercians had vineyards here as early as the 12th century. The clergyman Claude Arnoux (1695-1770) described this wine in his famous book.

1929 Chateau Haut Brion

1er Grand Cru Classé - Bordeaux - Pessac-Léognan

Arnaud III de Pontac, a leading nobleman and the first president of the regional parliament- who insisted that the red wine from his family's estate, located in Pessac, was an unique, that didn't had sold to négociants, who then blended it with other wines. Starting in 1660, he demanded a premium price for a wine with a name that no one beyond Bordeaux knew- "Haut- Brion", his family estate. After all, he sent his son to London five years later to open a tavern, where his wines were sold so exclusively and at quite steep prices. The vineyard of Château Haut Brion is planted to 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc. The high Merlot content, compared to the Médoc First Growths, gives the wine a voluptuous edge, but does not in any way detract from its ability to age. Haut Brion was purchased by the American financier and politician Clarence Dougless Dillion in 1935. His granddaughter still owns and operates Haut-Brion to this day.
