SW16229 2022 Roero Arneis Careglio
Piemonte - Roero

Arneis is the typical white wine of Piedmont. The grape variety of the same name was already known in the 15th century. It is relatively low in acidity, produces fragrant wines to be drunk young, with fine fruit and at the same time a strong body. Due to its susceptibility to downy mildew, Arneis almost became extinct a few years ago. It has experienced a renaissance since the 1990s.
The DOCG Roero Arneis was finally created in 2005.
The sandy hills of the Roero wine-growing region in Piedmont, across from the Barolo heartland, lend themselves particularly well to Arneis.

Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards.

Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards with 9 hectares of vineyards. SW15311 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba Virna
Piemonte

SW17010 2023 Brachetto d'Acqui Rosa Regale dolce

Bracchetto from the Vigna Regali vineyard is a typical Piedmontese sparkling wine - fresh scent of roses and raspberry, light and sweet. The Castello di Banfi winery was founded by two Italian-Americans from New York, Harry and John Mariani, who had become very wealthy by importing Lambrusco. In the mid-1970s, they created a very ambitious wine project based on the highest quality, which quickly gained great recognition.

SW15778 2020 Barbera d'Asti Del Martin Luca Ferraris
Piemonte - Monferrato

The Monferrato zone lays claim to being Barbera's birthplace, and records of it growing there as far back as the 13th century. But the hills around Alba and Monforte d'Alba have proved they are capable of growing some particularly fine Barbera, as are parts of the Asti province. Century-old vines still exist in many regional vineyards and allow for the production of long-aging, robust red wines with intense fruit and enhanced tannic content. The best known appellation is the DOCG(Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) Barbera D'Asti in the Piedmont region.

The red Barbera grape variety probably comes from the Italian region of Piedmont, where it is also the main grape variety and accounts for half of the vineyard area. The origin is controversial, one of the variants is that it was introduced to Piedmont by the Lombards in the 7th century. It has been known there since the 13th century and was mentioned in a document in 1799. The very productive vine produces acidic wines that are low in tannins. However, with rigorous yield restrictions and in a good location, you can get robust, powerful wines.

SW15784 2018 Barolo Giacomo Ascheri
Piemonte

The classical dry red wine comes from the Barolo DOC in Northern Italy, the most important wine region of Piedmont. Prior to the mid-19th century, Barolo was a sweet wine. The fact that the Nebbiolo grape ripens late in October meant that temperatures would be steadily dropping by harvest. By November and December, temperatures in the Piedmont region would be cold enough to halt fermentation, leaving a significant amount of residual sugar left in the wine. In the mid-19th century the French enologist Louis Oudart improve the winemaking techniques of the local producers. Using techniques focusing on improving the hygiene of the cellar, Oudart was able to ferment the Nebbiolo must completely dry, making the first modern Barolo. This new, dry red wine soon became a favorite among the nobility of Turin and the ruling House of Savoy, giving rise to the popular description of Barolo as the wine of kings, the king of wines.

The average age of the vines is 50 years and they are grown on a southern exposure in calcareous clay soils, at a density of about 5,000 plants per hectare. SW16754 2000 Barolo Avip

SW13377 1994 Barbera Bricco della Bigotta
Piemonte

Braida’s story is linked to that of Rocchetta Tanaro, a small town in the Monferrato area. From the beginning of 1982, Giacomo began to experiment with his innovative idea of pairing Barbera with the barrique: the vintage was exceptional; when the wine, Bricco dell’Uccellone, came out of the barrique, Californian oenologist André Tchelistcheff came to Italy and approved it, decreeing its success. Two other Barbera wines were born in those years in the Rocchetta Tanaro cellar: Bricco della Bigotta in 1985 and Ai Suma, obtained from a late grape harvest (end of October) in 1989. The three Braida reserves are made in the best vintages only.

SW16765 2000 Barbaresco Riserva Allini
Piemonte - Barbaresco

The classical dry red wine comes from the Barbaresco DOC in Northern Italy, the important wine region of Piedmont. Barbaresco is one of the great wines of Piedmont. It is a wine of extremely ancient origin and was mentioned by Livy in his monumental History of Rome. It was only toward the middle of the 19th century, however, that production was begun of a dry type of wine, which brought out all of Barbaresco's extraordinary qualities. Professor Domizio Cavazza, a noted enologist, introduced new vinification techniques and, in 1894, founded a cooperative winery exclusively dedicated to the production of Barbaresco. Barbaresco is 100% made with the Nebbiolo grape. The dry red wine is produced in the Piedmont region in an area of the Langhe immediately to the east of Alba and specifically in the comunes of Barbaresco, Treiso and Neive plus that area of the frazione San Rocco. The soils of Barbaresco zone are composed primarily of calcareous marl dating from the Tortonian epoch.
