Sfursat, or Sforzato, is obtained from hand-made selection of the best bunches of Nebbiolo-Chiavennasca grapes, which are dried on wooden racks in a well ventilated and dry room, a "fruttaio", until late January. This treatment leads to a high concentration of natural sugars and special aromas. The dehydration of the grape varies between 35-40%, the berries are dry and their concentrated juice has developed specific and very intense aromatic substances. The vinification process consists of soft pressing of the grapes and subsequent fermentation. A 2 to 3 year ageing in oak casks and a final 6 to 12 month bottle refinement give this red wine its uniqueness.

The Langenlonsheimer Löhrer Berg (empty mountain) is one of the oldest Riesling sites in the Nahe. This was ensured in 1688 by the Palatinate Elector Philipp Wilhelm von der Pfalz, who ordered the wind-protected south-facing location to be planted exclusively with Riesling and not mixed with different vines. The prestigious and tiny appellation of Quarts de Chaume, a tiny AOC in the heart of the Chenin Blanc area of the Loire Valley, has been associated with the Laffourcade name for five decades. Located on both banks of the Layon River, the Quarts de Chaume estate is dedicated exclusively to the production of sweet wine and covers an area of 43 hectares.

As a privileged enclave within the Coteaux du Layon sweet wine appellation (more precisely in the commune of Chaume), Quarts de Chaume is subject to strict legal regulations for its Pineau de la Loire (Chenin) wines.
