The Auvigue winery specializes in the wines of southern Bourgogne - and thus in white wines. Founded in 1946 by Francis Auvigue, the house is based in Fuissé. The area named after the city of Mâcon on the Sâone river with around 5,400 hectares of vineyards belongs to the Burgundy region. Even the Roman poet Ausonius (310-395) mentioned the wines from this area. In the 11th and 12th centuries, the Cistercians planted vines here on a larger scale. The area became famous in 1660 when the winegrower Claude Brosse delivered wine to Versailles and the French “Sun King” Louis XIV (1638-1715) noticed his size at a fair there. The king spoke to him, tasted his wine after mass and was so enthusiastic that the royal court was regularly supplied with it. The area stretches along the Sâone in a strip 15 kilometers long.

Côtes de Bourg is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) for Bordeaux wine situated around the small town of Bourg-sur-Gironde near Bordeaux, France. The first vineyards in the area were founded by the Romans. In the Middle Ages, Bourg was a major port for wine and the vineyards developed at the same tempo as the estuary traffic. Red Côtes de Bourg are garnet in colour and are predominantly based on the Merlot grape, blended with smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Some Chateaux still use Malbec as part of the blend. The vine has been established in le Bourgeais for centuries and the current varieties have been selected because of their performance in relation to the soil. The Côtes de Bourg are characterized by the diversity and richness of their soils.
Although the Côtes de Bourg is composed of mainly clay and limestone soils, their make-up is so rich that there is a veritable mosaic of sand and gravel in the area around Pugnac. Three types are predominant. Firstly, the Sienna-red Quaternary alluvium that is quite specific to the region and situated more on the heights: Merlot and Malbec are widely cultivated. Merlot and Cabernet are planted on clay and sandy gravel soils while Merlot is also grown on the widespread areas of clay and limestone.

Château de Callac is a classic fine Graves based on 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. Graves in the Bordeaux region is an ancient wine-growing area. The Romans planted vineyards here as early as the 1st century. The wines from Graves established the fame of today's Bordeaux. The name Graves first appeared in the Middle Ages and is derived from the gravelly soil (terre graveleuse). The pebbles are collected and placed next to the vines. They store the heat of the sun during the day and release the heat to the grapes late into the night. This heat promotes the ripening process in a natural way and increases the sugar content of the grapes. Another special feature are the rose bushes planted at the end of each row of vines (originally to indicate mildew infestation).

A Rotspon (Red = red wine, Spon-Span = from a wooden barrel) is a typical bottling from a Hanseatic city. Since the Middle Ages, the Hanseatic cities had the right to import wines from France in barrels, to mature them themselves and finally to bottle them for sale.

Between the Camargue and the Pyrenees are the sunny wine roads that were used by the Greeks and Romans 2,600 years ago. Today they are used by the 20,000 winegrowers of the Pays d'Oc. The peculiarity of Pays d'Oc wines is that, thanks to a range of 58 grape varieties, they offer a range with a very broad sensory profile. Their aromas are expressed either alone or in combination with each other (as a cuvée). The Mediterranean vineyards of the Pays d'Oc benefit from geographical and climatic conditions to which many grape varieties have been able to adapt - both international varieties and those typical of the region, such as Carignan and Syrah, which originated in the Mediterranean. Merlot, which first conquered the Bordeaux region, and later the vineyards of the southwest and Languedoc-Roussillon, is the most cultivated red variety in France. Aromatically complex, it is recommended for the composition of great wines capable of ageing, but also produces supple, drinkable wines that can be drunk relatively young.

Recognition of DOCG status came in 1980. The Château Haut-Piquat is located in the Lussac Saint-Emilion growing area and was the first winery in 1972 taken over by the Rivière family. From the elegant wine cellar, the view over the surrounding hills is remarkable: hectares of vines and forest, especially on the hill of Picampeau, where there is also an impressive megalith. Today, the winery has 22 hectares of continuous vineyards on an excellent lime soil, as well as hills with various sand-pitted red clay formations. Priorat is an ancient Spanish wine region that fell into oblivion with the phylloxera epidemic in the 19th century and was only rediscovered by young winemakers in the 1980s and became a cult. Typical are the cuvées of Granacha and Carinyena. Both grape varieties tolerate the mild, rather dry climate excellently and are characterised in their aroma by the dark slate soil of the Priorat.

Château de Chelivette has existed since the 16th century near the communes of Ste Eulalie and St Loubes and has 29 hectares of prime hillside vineyards.
