Côtes de Bourg is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) for Bordeaux wine situated around the small town of Bourg-sur-Gironde near Bordeaux, France. The first vineyards in the area were founded by the Romans. In the Middle Ages, Bourg was a major port for wine and the vineyards developed at the same tempo as the estuary traffic. Red Côtes de Bourg are garnet in colour and are predominantly based on the Merlot grape, blended with smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Some Chateaux still use Malbec as part of the blend. The vine has been established in le Bourgeais for centuries and the current varieties have been selected because of their performance in relation to the soil. The Côtes de Bourg are characterized by the diversity and richness of their soils.
Although the Côtes de Bourg is composed of mainly clay and limestone soils, their make-up is so rich that there is a veritable mosaic of sand and gravel in the area around Pugnac. Three types are predominant. Firstly, the Sienna-red Quaternary alluvium that is quite specific to the region and situated more on the heights: Merlot and Malbec are widely cultivated. Merlot and Cabernet are planted on clay and sandy gravel soils while Merlot is also grown on the widespread areas of clay and limestone.

Priorat is an ancient Spanish wine region that fell into oblivion with the phylloxera epidemic in the 19th century and was only rediscovered by young winemakers in the 1980s and became a cult. Typical are the cuvées of Granacha and Carinyena. Both grape varieties tolerate the mild, rather dry climate excellently and are characterised in their aroma by the dark slate soil of the Priorat.

The Château Haut-Piquat is located in the Lussac Saint-Emilion growing area and was the first winery in 1972 taken over by the Rivière family. From the elegant wine cellar, the view over the surrounding hills is remarkable: hectares of vines and forest, especially on the hill of Picampeau, where there is also an impressive megalith. Today, the winery has 22 hectares of continuous vineyards on an excellent lime soil, as well as hills with various sand-pitted red clay formations. Here the noble grape varieties - 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc - can express their full potential. Sustainable cultivation has been practiced since 2001.

The small appellation Saint Romain, named after the town of the same name, covers 83 hectares of vineyards. It lies, so to speak, on a line up the slope above Meursault and Auxey-Duresses. Mineral, floral white wines are produced here.

The Rheingau vineyard is located on a gentle slope of deep, partly gravelly loess. Tertiary marl soils are found in some areas. The rich soil is well interspersed with humus. The classical dry red wine comes from the Barolo DOC in Northern Italy, the most important wine region of Piedmont. Prior to the mid-19th century, Barolo was a sweet wine. The fact that the Nebbiolo grape ripens late in October meant that temperatures would be steadily dropping by harvest. By November and December, temperatures in the Piedmont region would be cold enough to halt fermentation, leaving a significant amount of residual sugar left in the wine. In the mid-19th century the French enologist Louis Oudart improve the winemaking techniques of the local producers. Using techniques focusing on improving the hygiene of the cellar, Oudart was able to ferment the Nebbiolo must completely dry, making the first modern Barolo. This new, dry red wine soon became a favorite among the nobility of Turin and the ruling House of Savoy, giving rise to the popular description of Barolo as the wine of kings, the king of wines.

Recognition of DOCG status came in 1980. Château de Chelivette has existed since the 16th century near the communes of Ste Eulalie and St Loubes and has 29 hectares of prime hillside vineyards. Michel Laroche produces an aromatically expressive, complex Chablis from very old vines.

The Chablis wine-growing region is the northernmost of the wine-growing regions of the Burgundy region. The name was very well known, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, and at that time was considered a synonym for a dry white wine. Chablis is almost equidistant from Champagne, from Sancerre on the Loire and from the nearest Burgundy locations on the Côte d'Or. German most famous and oldest viticulture is the „Steilhange“, steep slopes along the Mosella river. No wonder that Weingut Milz can praise such a long winemaking tradition and history. Since 1520, the Milz family has been known as great winemakers in Trittenheim, a wine village in the well-known Moselschleife. Parts of the original 1680 wine cellar are today still visible. Milz’s wines are quite classic Riesling from the Mosel, since they present the ideal alcohol level, delicatesugar residue and an extremely long finish. In 1900, these wines used to be the most expensive in any European restaurant’s menu, even more high-priced than the best Burgundies and Bordeaux wines.

The Leiterchen is a single part of the Trittenheimer Apotheke vineyard is located in front of Trittenheim on the right bank of the Mosella. This region is famous for his 40%-60% incline. Soil is rocky and made up of green-blue Devon – altered slate that during the day stores the sun heat on the west-southern slopes and at night gives it back to the vine. This phenomenon allows the growing Riesling to properly ripen. The vineyard is located at 150-200 metres above sea level and stretches across 72 hectares.
