The classical dry red wine of Château Boyd-Cantenac comes from the appellation Margaux in Bordeaux. Its 17 hectares of vineyards are located west of the village of Cantenac in the Margaux appellation. 1754 the property was purchased by Jacques Boyd. After the 1855 Grand Cru Classifications ranked Château Boyd-Cantenac as a third growth winery. Few years later the estate was divided into Boyd-Cantenac and Cantenac-Brown.
