The weather is getting warmer and drier year after year - including 2022. The year was the warmest when records began. Under these circumstances, rainfall during grape ripening is no longer necessarily a problem, but welcome to avoid drying out in the vineyard. ... In Bordeaux and in Piedmont spring rainfall was plentiful, offsetting the intense summer heat. In Germany there was frost again and heavy rain in the autumn, to which the winegrowers had to react quickly.
