The Rheingau vineyard Schützenhaus - VdP 1st location (1er Cru) - has a south-southwest orientation. It is protected from cold easterly winds, which benefits vine growth. According to a local tradition, a Latin inscription found in the underground galleries of the Château dates its construction back to the 13th century. But the first of its known lords was Guillaume -Raymond d’Agassac in 1172, Lord of Blanquefort. In 1792 the first vine was planted and the winery created. The vineyard spreads on 43 hectares. The winery has been owned by the Chanfreau family, who returned from Algeria, since 1962 and has been managed by Jean Chanfreau since 1981. The Pommard appellation, named after the municipality of the same name, with 313 hectares of vineyards is located in the Côte de Beaune part of the Burgundian Côte d'Or. It connects to the municipality of Volnay. The Cistercians owned vineyards here as early as the 12th century. The clergyman Claude Arnoux (1695-1770) described this wine in his famous book.  In 1844 Luciano Francisco Ramòn de Murrieta, returned to his home near Logrono in Rioja from England, where he  developed an appreciation for wine, recognized that there was nothing wrong with the grapes growing in Rioja's vineyards. Domaine Arlaud was created in 1942 with the marriage of Joseph Arlaud, a man from Ardèche, and Renée Amiot, a woman from a family with deep roots in the Burgundian wine culture. Chevalier's history is an integral part of its identity. Chateau La Lagune in Ludon, is the first major estate you reach when you travel from Bordeaux through famous Route du Vin. Known in pre-revolutionary times as Chateau Séguineau, after the family who owned it, La Lagune was acquired in 1819 by Jouffrey Piston and in 1855 was classed as troisième cru. After the First World War the property fell on hard times and the vineyard declined. It was acquired by Georges Brunet in 1954. He replanted the vineyard, but he sell up in 1962 . La Lagune was bought by Renè Chayoux of Ayala Champagne, in whose hands it remains.

Third Grand Cru Classé in 1855, Château Boyd-Cantenac was founded in 1754  by Jacques Boyd. After few years of the Classification the estate was divided into Boyd-Cantenac and Cantenac-Brown. Its 17 hectares of vineyards are located west of the village of Cantenac in the Margaux appellation. The soil is rocky-gravely and the vines are more than thirty five years old on average and are composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot.
It is one of the Crus still owned and operated by one family.

One of the grandest, most imposing buildings amongst the Médoc châteaux, Château Margaux in ist current form was built in the early 19th century, although viticulture had been practised on the estate for several centuries before.
