The hilltops of Sancerre vineyards spread through 14 villages. The two grape varieties  in Sancerre are the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir. They have gained the AOC status in 1936. In 769, While Charlemagne started his reconquest of Aquitanian, he decided to establish a fortified camp close to the hillock, “Campus Francorum”, which will become Fronsac. German most famous and oldest viticulture is the „Steilhange“, steep slopes along the Mosella river. No wonder that Weingut Milz can praise such a long winemaking tradition and history. Since 1520, the Milz family has been known as great winemakers in Trittenheim, a wine village in the well-known Moselschleife. Parts of the original 1680 wine cellar are today still visible. Milz’s wines are quite classic Riesling from the Mosel, since they present the ideal alcohol level, delicatesugar residue and an extremely long finish. In 1900, these wines used to be the most expensive in any European restaurant’s menu, even more high-priced than the best Burgundies and Bordeaux wines.

The Apotheke vineyard is located in front of Trittenheim on the right bank of the Mosella. This region is famous for his 40%-60% incline. Soil is rocky and made up of green-blue Devon – altered slate that during the day stores the sun heat on the west-southern slopes and at night gives it back to the vine. This phenomenon allows the growing Riesling to properly ripen. The vineyard is located at 150-200 metres above sea level and stretches across 72 hectares.

The peculiar name „Apotheke“ was not chosen because of a special healing effect of these wines, as you could guess, but it results form the alteration of the name „Abteiberg“: the hill were the old Trier Abbey was locarted. Until 1909 winemakers had to use a ferry to reach their vineyards. In the core area of the region the original docking pier still survives.

In the 1950s, the Clos des Menuts only covered one hectare of vineyards. The Listrac-Médoc appellation is situated in the north-west of the Gironde County. Château de Sales is one of the most important wineries in Pomerol. The winery has been family-owned for 500 years. The Château Labégorce winery is located in the municipality of Castelnau-de-Médoc in the Margaux area in the Médoc. Classified as "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionel" in the Bordeaux classification. The vineyards cover 30 hectares of vineyards planted with the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (45%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The long-lived red wine is aged for 12 to 15 months in one-third new barriques.

Clos la Madeleine is in a prime location in Saint Emilion close to the 1er Cru Ausone, Belair and Canon. It has only 2.5 hectares of vineyards, 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc. The winery has existed since 1841 and was taken over by a group of wine enthusiasts in 1992, since then the quality of the wines has improved significantly. Château Duhart-Milon’s very fine second wine is selected on the same basis as the “Grand Vin”. In general, the grapes are from the younger plots in the vineyard. Moulin de Duhart has several characteristics similar to the grand vin, but with less potential for ageing as its barrel ageing period is shorter. It should be consumed younger than its more robust counterpart.

The estate originally known simply as Chateau Milon, at one time the estate was known as the second wine of Chateau Lafite. In 1815, the Pauillac property was considered by some people as a fourth growth Bordeaux wine in the making. In those days, the wine was sold under the name of Chateau Mandavy-Milon. Between 1830 and 1840, the Casteja family became the owners of the estate from an inheritance.

The label of Duhart Milon, according to family tradition came about from an old legend written about one of their ancestors, Sir Duhart. Sir Duhart, was rumored to have been a pirate for Louis XV. He settled at Pauillac for retirement. The “pirate’s house” on the Pauillac port existed up to the 1950’s. That original building inspired the label for the Duhart-Milon wines.

The Casteja family remained in possession of Duhart Milon until the first part of the 20th century. In 1962 the Rothschild family purchased the property. The 152 hectare vineyard of Chateau Duhart Milon includes 76 hectares of vines planted to 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot.

Chateau Lafon Rochet in St. Estephe dates back to the middle of the 17th century. The estate was founded In 1650. While many Bordeaux vineyards were confiscated during the French Revolution, that did not happen to Lafon Rochet. The Left Bank estate remained the property of the same family for more than two centuries. In 1959 the Tesseron family purchased the estate.
The 45 hectare vineyards of Lafon Rochet consists in one single, large parcel with three soil types, limestone, marl and clay. Around 1870, Ferruccio Biondi-Santi began to set out in his vineyards a clone of the Sangiovese variety known as Brunello. Brunello began to be talked about after 1880. The first great vintage, officially, was the 1888 Brunello, of which five bottles still exist.
