Grape varieties
The aroma, the taste of a wine is very much influenced by the grape variety from which it originated.
You can either switch directly to the main grape varieties via the menu or browse through the various grape varieties via the filter selection. If you miss a grape variety, then we do not have a corresponding wine at the moment.
Many classic wines are cuvées made from different grape varieties. If a grape variety occurs in a wine, it is displayed accordingly in the filter.

Fine, elegant wine in small bottles from 3.5 hectares of vines on sandy loam soil with a high Cabernet Franc content of 30% (in addition to the obligatory Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon). Yield reduction, green harvest, barrique ageing.
To the north-east of Saint Emilion are four communes which are identified as separate appellations by their place names. These so-called satellite villages have very different soil types, from limestone-sandstone to gravel plateaus (Graves). Montagne-St.Emilion is directly adjacent to the main appellation and is the largest satellite region. Like the wines of St.Emilion, this classic Bordeaux is also characterised by the Merlot grape variety.

The house of Kessler is one of the few sparkling wine producers in Germany that has its historical roots in the Champagne region. With the expertise he gathered as a director and associate of Veuve Cliquot-Ponsardin, Georg Christian von Kessler founded Germany’s oldest sparkling wine producer on the 1st July 1826. The House of Kessler has always stuck to traditional methods, and used the same bottle fermentation technique. All the top sparkling wines are made according to the méthode traditionelle that the company founder, Georg Christian von Kessler, brought from the Champagne region to Germany exactly 190 years ago. Some of the production is still stored in medieval maturation cellars, where they are shaken by hand.

Silvaner from Franken, in South Germany is a dry white wine known for its mineral characteristics. In 1659, the cultivation of Silvaner was first documented in Germany, namely in Castell in Franken. This variety can express its terroir almost as well as Riesling. In 1970, 23% of German vineyards were planted with the Silvaner grape, however in 2018, it made up only 4.6% of the country's plantings. Silvaner ripens about two weeks earlier than Riesling, likes average exposure to sunshine and needs moist soil. They are full-bodied, delicate, earthy and fruity tones wine with a mild acidity, makes Silvaner an excellent food match. The aromas often resemble flowers and plants, or melons, yellow plums and apples.

Arneis is the typical white wine of Piedmont. The grape variety of the same name was already known in the 15th century. It is relatively low in acidity, produces fragrant wines to be drunk young, with fine fruit and at the same time a strong body. Due to its susceptibility to downy mildew, Arneis almost became extinct a few years ago. It has experienced a renaissance since the 1990s.
The DOCG Roero Arneis was finally created in 2005.
The sandy hills of the Roero wine-growing region in Piedmont, across from the Barolo heartland, lend themselves particularly well to Arneis.
Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards.

Côtes de Bourg is an Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) for Bordeaux wine situated around the small town of Bourg-sur-Gironde near Bordeaux, France. The first vineyards in the area were founded by the Romans. In the Middle Ages, Bourg was a major port for wine and the vineyards developed at the same tempo as the estuary traffic. Red Côtes de Bourg are garnet in colour and are predominantly based on the Merlot grape, blended with smaller quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Some Chateaux still use Malbec as part of the blend. Variety of grapes Primitivo Soil principles Calcerous Soil of Corse origin, enriched of red iron oxide (typical of Salento’ soil). Calcerous soils are cool with good water retention. They allow the vines root system to penetrate deeply and provide excellent drainage. After the initial pressing, wine grapes undergo a maceration of 8-10 days. Once the draining and breey flesh is done, the prime must is fermented with the addition of selected yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks (22-23°). At the end of the fermentation process the new wine is finally racked.

The Valenti winery is relatively young. It was only founded in 2004 and newly planted on almost 30 hectares. The soils are among the best on Mount Etna and in Sicily in general - Passopisciaro in the municipality of Castiglione di Sizilia. Etna Rosso is a DOC for dry red wines in the Italian region (island) Sicily. Sicily is considered the cradle of Italian viticulture in general. Many of today's autochthonous grapes descend from the ancient grape varieties cultivated at the time. Sicilian wines are mainly based on two of these traditional grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese at Etna Rosso and Nero d'Avola. The Etna wines are reminiscent of Pinot Noir or even more of German Pinot Noir - mineral, with fresh cherry fruit and careful aging in wood.
In the "Storia die Vini d'Italia" (History of the Wines of Italy), published in 1596, wines from here are mentioned and their exceptional quality attributed to the fly ash blown in from Mount Etna.
The grape varieties used are 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio.

Silvaner is an old variety that once was the most important grape in Germany. It likes average exposure to sunshine and needs moist soil. Silvaner is generally best enjoyed while it is young. Especially, it is found in Franken, Rheinhessen and Saale-Unstrut. Weingut Höfling is a family-owned winery in Eußenheim situated to the Northwest of Würzburg. Almost all of their vineyards are present on slopes and hilly terrain, and most of all of the work in the vineyards is by hands. The people in the winery work very hard and with a commitment to produce unique Franconian wines that show the qualities of the region. So they uses domestic wood and hometown barrels and like the most prized Franken wines were traditionally bottled in a Bocksbeutel, a squat green or brown flagon with a round body, is by Höfling too.

The Chablis wine region is the northernmost of the Burgundy wine regions. The name was very well known, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, and at that time was synonymous with a dry white wine. Chablis is almost equidistant from Champagne, from Sancerre on the Loire and from the nearest Burgundy locations on the Côte d'Or. The cool wine-growing climate gives the Chardonnay a pronounced acidity, which the winemaker usually leaves in the wine in favor of the fruitiness. The wines are therefore mostly matured in stainless steel tanks and do not go through malolactic fermentation. The steely acidity, which is strongly determined by the comparatively high proportion of malic acid, is one of the hallmarks of Chablis and gives the white wine a remarkable longevity.

The classical dry red wine comes from the appellation Graves. Graves (from French: gravelly land) is an important subregion of the Bordeaux wine region. Graves is situated on the left bank of the Garonne river, in the upstream part of the region, southeast of the city Bordeaux. The name Graves derives from ist intensely gravelly soil. The soil is the result of glaciers from the Ice Age, which also left white quartz deposits that can still be found in the soil of some of the top winemaking estates. Typical for the left bank wines (Médoc) is the blend of grapes with Cabernet Sauvignon as the predominant grape. The others are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

A rare Arneis Reserve! The wine shows the full potential of the white grape variety with a longer maturation period and longer shelf life. Contrary to what one might expect, the Riserva is also exclusively in the stainless steel tank and the bottle.
Pierangelo Careglio's winery is an ambitious family business that was founded in 1986 on very old vineyards with 9 hectares of vineyards. Typical for Roero is the sandy soil with clay and limestone parts. The wines from here are more aromatic and robust than their relatives from the Barolo region.

Merlot usually dominates the blend (cuvée). Four other appellations situated immediately north and northeast of the Saint-Émilion AOC are collectively known as the "Saint-Émilion satellites". They are Lussac-Saint-Émilion, Montagne-Saint-Émilion, Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, and Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion. Montagne-Saint-Émilion only produces red wine.

The Domain Chatelain is family-owned for the 12th generation and stands for traditional white wines from Chablis and Pouilly Fumé. The Chablis wine region is the northernmost wine region in the Burgundy region. The name was particularly well known in the 1970s and 1980s and was considered a synonym for a dry white wine at that time. Chablis is almost equidistant from Champagne, from Sancerre on the Loire and from the nearest Burgundy locations on the Côte d’Or. The cool wine-growing climate gives Chardonnay a pronounced acidity, which the winemaker usually leaves in favor of the fruitiness of the wine. The wines are therefore usually aged in stainless steel tanks and do not undergo malolactic fermentation. The steely acidity, which is largely determined by the comparatively high proportion of malic acid, is one of the trademarks of Chablis and gives the white wine a remarkable longevity.

The vine has been established in le Bourgeais for centuries and the current varieties have been selected because of their performance in relation to the soil. The Côtes de Bourg are characterized by the diversity and richness of their soils.
Although the Côtes de Bourg is composed of mainly clay and limestone soils, their make-up is so rich that there is a veritable mosaic of sand and gravel in the area around Pugnac. Three types are predominant. Firstly, the Sienna-red Quaternary alluvium that is quite specific to the region and situated more on the heights: Merlot and Malbec are widely cultivated. Merlot and Cabernet are planted on clay and sandy gravel soils while Merlot is also grown on the widespread areas of clay and limestone.
