Wine 1973
For decades, the wines of the 1973 vintage lay untouched in the wine cellar like a time capsule. Anyone who opens a perfectly preserved bottle of the vintage 1973 now enjoys a wine that was shaped by the weather, temperatures, sun and rain of 1973. 1973 was a hot sunny vintage, interrupted by erratic rainfall. The wines ripened faster than usual. ... The difference with vintages that were slow to develop is often noticeable. After opening, 1973 wines do not need long decanting. Spiciness and perceived sweetness (in a dry wine) are typical of the vintage.
A real old and drinkable wine from 1973. Every wine lover is fascinated by a perfectly aged and rare red wine with a world-famous origin.

A perfect half bottle from 1973. The strange name of the Wasseros vineyard plot refers to spring areas that emerge from the ground in many places. Such places were referred to as water horses in old cadastral locations as early as 1610 and gave this area in Kiedrich its name. The vines in this first Lage (1er Cru) in the VdP grow on shallow and stony soils that are permeated with loess and loess loam. This produces delicate Rieslings with a mineral acidity, which exhibit a beautiful harmony even as young wines.

Calabria’s viticulture is dominated by two grape varieties, the red Gaglioppo and the white Greco. The best known of Calabria’s DOC wines is Cirò. Grown on the foothills of the Ionian coast, this historic wine could not be further removed from its famous ancestor. Modern methods of vine training and improved vinification techniques have produced a fresh, deeply aromatic wine, with no signs of the oxidation that characterised earlier versions. The best examples can age for decades, into majestic dark, brooding wines, densely flavoured with red and black fruits, tar and spices.

The Tokaj Aszú is the typical noble sweet wine from Tokaj-Hegyalja. The basis of this wine are hand-picked, dried and noble rotten berries. After selecting, those dry berries are processed to an Aszú dough. Taste and quality of the Aszú mainly depend on the number of hods (puttonyos) filled with dry berries (25 kilograms each), which are added to a cask (Gönc type, 136 liters) of dry base wine. Consequently, the proportion between aszú berries and dry base wine is about 1:1 for a 6 puttonyos Aszú. Aszú is not made every year. The winemaker decides, if the quality of harvest allows Aszú production or not

Château du Terrey is a small, fine Cru Bourgeois near Pauillac. The climate, characterized by the nearby Atlantic and the many rivers, is extremely favorable for viticulture. Summer is not too dry or hot, autumn is sunny and winter is mild. The predominantly barren and stony gravel soil means that the roots of the vines have to dig up to ten meters deep into the ground to find water. This means that both dry periods and rainy periods (drainage promoted by gravel soil) can be better survived. The stony ground also serves as a heat reservoir.

The story begins in 1807, in Paris, when the Marquis of Barolo Carlo Tancredi Falletti married Juliette Colbert de Maulévrier, a French noblewoman and the great granddaughter of the Minister of Finance Colbert by Luigi XIV . Juliette saw the great potential of the wine made in Barolo that, after a complete fermentation and a long aging in wood, would have been able to unveil all the qualities typical of the soil and of the grape variety: Nebbiolo. Since 1970, the Castello has been under local ownership. The winery estate, which is located at the center of Barolo, presently belongs to the Abbona family, which purchased in the late 19th century. The original and distinguished wines produced by Marchesi di Barolo are characterized by a number of highly prestigious native vines and a unique soil composition, with amalgams of clay, limestone marl, blueish marl, tuff, sandstone and sand. In order to better define and enhance their different characteristics, the most prestigious historical crus are made from a single variety, and individually aged and bottled.

Amarone della Valpolicella is an intensely flavored dry red wine made from the Veneto and Lombardia regions of north Italy. Amarone wines are made from carefully selected bunches of the best grapes. These grapes are then dried between three and four months, before fermentation. Traditionally the grapes were dried on wooden racks at ambient temperatures. the wines are matured in oak for at least two years for 'normale' Amarone and four years for Riserva. The Domaine Romanée Conti, abbreviated DRC, is legendary. The company is located in the Vosne Romanée appellation in Burgundy. The origins of the Domaine Romanée Conti date back to 1232. The Romanée vineyard was planted exclusively with Pinot Noir by the monks of Staint-Vivant and is still the same size today as it was then. Due to one of the rare changes of ownership in the 17th century, the name Conti was added. In 1942, Mr. de Villaine took over the management of the Domaine Romanée Conti and took the winery to new heights. The Grand Échezeaux is one of the most important Grand Cru sites in Burgundy. It is located on a slightly rising eastern slope at an altitude of 250 to 260 m above sea level. To the northeast it borders Clos de Vougeot, to the west is Échezeaux and to the south is the Premier Cru location Les Suchots.
