The Corbières wine-growing region is located on the mountain range of the same name on the edge of the Pyrenees. To the south is the Roussillon appellation. Müller-Thurgau is a grape variety obtained from a cross between Rhine Riesling and Green Silvaner by Prof. Hermann Müller of Thurgau. The Listrac-Médoc appellation is situated in the north-west of the Gironde County. This area, baptised The Roof of the Médoc, reaches a height of 43 metres above sea level.
Château Clarke dates back to the 12th century, when Cistercian monks at the Vertheuil Abbey in Listrac planted the first grapevines. In the year 1771 the Irish knight Tobie Clarke bought the vineyards with 230 hectares. Baron Edmond de Rothschild acquired two properties in 1973: Château Malmaison in Moulis and the adjoining Château Clarke with 53 hectares of vineyards.
The grapevines are planted on clay-limestone hilltops that encourage the expression of the Merlot grape that largely dominates the vine mix (a rare feature in the Médoc district).

The estate dates back to the mid-19th century and was created by the Beylot family, négociants from Libourne. Cà del Bosco is the distinctive name of a winery founded in 1968. Its name recalls a little house in the woods that already existed when in 1964 Annamaria Clementi bought the two acres property in the Ebrusco municipality located in the Franciacorta area. Chateau Giscours is located in the commune of Labarde in the south of the Margaux appellation. Its origins date back to 1330, and it was first mentioned as a vineyard in 1552. Château Lafite Rothschild is one of the most renowned wine properties in the Médoc. Owned by Baron Eric de Rothschild and Lafite Rothschild is also one of the largest Médoc estates. With a base largely of gravel the vineyard is unsurprisingly dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (71%) with the balance comprising Merlot (25%) Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (1%).
