Description of the product
Vin Jaune - often called straw wine in German - is a special feature of the Jura wine-growing region. Wines made from the Savagnin variety in the traditional bottle (0.62 l) are reminiscent of aged sherry. Its striking acidity, which gives the wine freshness, is unique. Vin Jaune is expanded by oxidation. The must matures in barrique barrels for 6 years and 3 months and is extremely durable.
The Côtes du Jura appellation includes the wines of the French wine region between Burgundy and Switzerland. The dominant grape varieties of the often very mineral wines are Chardonnay and Savagnin for white wines and Pinot Noir, as well as Poulsard and Trousseau for red wines.
